Had a really funny conversation with Zhuang today at work.

Heay: Zhuang should I go over your house next year? (Her birthday's on 1st Jan)

Zhuang: It depends on you. You go back and think about it this year and tell me whether you wanna come my house next year okay? [forcing herself not to laugh]

Heay: Alright I'll tell you whether I wanna go your house next year then.

We ended up laughing.

Today is a lucky day. I have half day off for New Year eve today. =P

So I left work at 12 something. I was driving in Sunway after work. Then I came to a traffic light. The light turned to yellow when I reached the traffic light. Normally I would speed up before it turns red. But today I was in good mood because I got a half day off and since I have half day off I have plenty of time to waste today. keke... So I just slowed down and waited for the light to turn green again.

While waiting I sms-ed my mum. And then throw the handphone back to the bag. When the light turned green I drove off. Just around that corner I saw few traffic policemen blocking some car. They didn't blocked me. Thank goodness! Luckily they didn't see my typing sms in the car just now. And I'm so pleased I didn't drive through the red light. =)

Lucky day it is.

The wind from the fan is really cooling. I'm dozing off. Gotta catch some nap. Ciao..

Today is Saturday!

Woke up 7am today. I'm already used to waking up when the sky gets brighter. Didn't set alarm but still can wake up so early.

The sky was so blue and the sun was not too strong yet that time. So, I decided to go for a swim.

It was a satisfaction. I've been itching to swim since I've moved to USJ because the swimming pool is just right outside my window. I can see the glistening blue water from my window everyday.

It's a temptation.

But every time there were some excuses. It's either I was was too tired to go or there were too many people swimming in the small pool. By the time I wasn't tired and there's less people it was already 9 something at night.

I would say this is a small achievement. =P To do something I've been itching for.

I wish this small accomplishment can bring some positive energy into my life. I need that. Been searching for the light behind the tunnel cuz I'm very lost with what I should do with my future now.

Light or darkness after tunnel?

Wanted to post these picture long time ago but I din bring my handphone cable to my aunt's house when I was staying at her house.

Went to a garden at Bukit Jalil the other day with my mum and my aunt for a walk. I wanted to jog but follow them instead cuz I scare I got lost in the big garden.

We went there at around 7 something. The air was very fresh and breezy there cuz it was early. And I love the trees there. And the lakes. And fountains. This garden has really nice views.

Photobucket
There are tracks for people to walk around.

Photobucket
And I love the trees there. Some looks wild (like those in previous pic).
Some really poetic (the pale colour leaves trees)

Photobucket

Photobucket
There are many lakes in the garden. And the lakes got many big fishes and turtles. I mean really big especially for the fishes. People brought bread and even fish feed there to feed the fishes and turtles.

Photobucket
There's a bridge too. It's a really big garden. We took 1 hour to walk around the garden summore we din take other routes and din go to the hill top.

Photobucket

They have mini countries there e.g. Malaysia, England, Holland, Iran. These cute looking trees are at Malaysia side.

There are many aunties and uncles doing qigong there. Some do tai chi and some do clapping hands exercises. Some parents bring their kids to walk around there. There are couples jogging together, too. Very harmony.

Some brought badminton rackets. Some brought those round round plastic plate (to throw to one another one) to play at the grassy field. Kids were running here and there.

I love this place very much. Can't wait to go there again on weekend. =)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I like my boss.

She is understanding. She trusts her employees. She helps analyse problems if we face any.

And she always give us nice cookies! =P

She made some cookies for her kid's school party and gave me and Zhuang some of the cookies.

Photobucket
The decorations were made by her kids. Very creative =)
And the cookies are tasty!

And she bought us cookies as Christmas presents, too!

Photobucket
Cappuccino taste cookies. Pretty tasty. =)

Definition of Beauty

Korean actresses are famous for their plastic surgery nowadays. Out of a sudden plenty beauties with similar faces appear on the screen.

After seeing all the same faces in Korean dramas, I'm already bored with those faces. Most of them have tall nose bridges and double eyelids. But there's still some, although plastic surgeried, could still attract me in every drama they casted in.

No, I'm a straight normal girl, no senget-senget. But these actresses are too pretty that I think they come from heaven.

These are my definitions of beauty:

Jeong Ryeo-Won (Gong-Li replicate)
PhotobucketPhotobucket

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Park Eun-Hye from
大長今 (Dae Jang Geum)

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket

Song Hye-Kyo
My all time favourite

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Photobucket
No make up also pretty

Photobucket
Chubby chubby also pretty

I think they are different from other plastic-surgeried beauties because their eyes make them looks really innocent like angel from heaven when they smile.

Keke. My goodness I sound like a lesbian. =P

And I do like not-so-pretty actress who is good in acting, too.

Here's one:

Kim Seon-Ah from My Name is Kim Sam Soon

Photobucket

She's not very pretty type. But I like her acting. She's a real good actress. She has very rich funny expressions which other pretty actresses could never imitate.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Cute monkey expression. hehehe.. I like.

I really like her expression especially this Bengang look:

No other actress can have such funny bengang look.

She's a real 实力派 to me.

Placebo effects

Was looking up on "cold and flu" in MSN.com because I'm still suffering coughs and blocked nose.

Then I saw this page called Cold Hard Facts which initially didn't attract me but after reading up the content I was convinced.

People think Echinacea, ginger, garlic, Vitamin C, zinc can treat colds. However, recent research reported in The New England Journal of Medicine that Vitamin C and Echinacea don't help prevent or cure cold.

So, why most people still claim that Vitamin C can help ease cold?

Dr. Bruce Barrett explained that normally research studies are done on 3 conditions: treated, placebo and non-treated. Placebo means a substance having no pharmacological effect but given merely to satisfy a patient who supposes it to be a medicine. Dr Barrett said that patients treated by medicine were only slightly better than patients being treated by placebo treatments. But, patients treated by placebo healed much better than non-treated patients.

So, regardless of how ineffective these Echinacea and Vitamin C are, as long as you believe strongly that these things can heal your cold, they can. It's the mind-body relief mechanism which is still unknown to us.

No wonder I'm still unwell. I don't believe much in all the remedies taken: Vitamin C, Strepsils, Fisherman's Friend, 川贝枇杷膏(Fritillaria Loquat Syrup) and 咳必止 (another type of herbal remedy). They just don't work.

Maybe I should start fooling myself to believe they are effective. Then only the placebo effect can take place and my cough can ease. lol

Merry Christmas!

Christmas had crept to me quietly in my slumber yesterday.

There's no countdowns. Got a few sms greetings and a call from Keen on Christmas Eve sending early Christmas greetings). Christmas morning was quiet.

Mum suggested to make a butter egg cake for Christmas. So we started to make it after breakfast.

Photobucket
Mum decorating the cake with cocoa cream

Photobucket
I was worrying the cocoa would fade a bit after baking the cake. Luckily the words are still visible. Merry Xmas =)

After having lunch, we then spent the whole afternoon watching a Chinese drama until about 4 something in the afternoon we started making dumplings for dinner.

This dumpling is called 咸角子 (pronounced sian jiao zi in Chinese. Some people call it ham kok zai in cantonese). The skin is transparent when it's cooked. This is the first time we make this type of dumpling. So the shape looks a bit weird. Almost half the dumplings I made was broken maybe because I was too harsh with the skin or the skins were to thin to hold the fillings.

Photobucket

I didn't prepare the fillings so I'm not really sure what's in the fillings. I saw some carrot slices, mushrooms, some greeny stuff which looks like leafy vege to me and something looks like radish slices. My aunt's family are vegetarians. That is why they dun include meat in the fillings.

Christmas is about presents!! =D

Photobucket

We played Secret Santa last night. Everyone picked a piece of paper with a person's name on it. Then one would have to buy a present below RM10 for that person. I picked mei's name. I bought a really cute pink colour hipo soft toy for her. =P

I got a pair of earrings from my mum. hehe. Love the earrings.

Brother came to join in the fun too. =)

Photobucket

Bro brought us some snacks from Bandung, Indonesia.

We've got presents.

We've got foods.

We had some laughs.

And some funny faces too! =P

Winter solstice

22 December every year is as important as Chinese New Year for my family.

It's Winter Solstice (dong zhi)!!

All the ladies would sit around the table wrapping the glutinous rice batter around the filling to make tang yuan of course! (What do people call tang yuan in English? I checked google translate, it says it's dumpling in English, but Baidu Encyclopedia says it's glue pudding in English. Dun care la. I just call it tang yuan) Normally the fillings are made of chopped peanuts mixed with some sugar syrup. Yummm!!

I prefer glutinous rice batter for tang yuan over the batter for mooncake because glutinous rice batter is cooling when rolled in palms and mooncake batter is oily and warm, yucks.. hehe.

Mum always emphasizes that Winter solstice is a very important occasion because it means family reunion. She always repeats every year that Winter solstice is when the weather gets really cold back in China and the family members stayed at home and eat those warm tang yuan and had some chitchats.

Photobucket
Making tang yuans with mum and aunt at aunt's house. I looked very yong sui here. haha.

Photobucket
Tasty peanut fillings

Photobucket
Tang yuans yet to be cooked. The glutinous skin tend to dry up really fast and stick to each other or stick to the pan. So we had to cover the tang yuan with flour from time to time.

Photobucket
We have 3 various colours this year: Red, white and the new colour, green.

Photobucket
Tang yuans were then boiled to cook. Supposedly those which floated up are cooked.

Photobucket
Tang yuan served with pandan leave soup

Photobucket

Photobucket
Mum made one tang yuan with smiling face. hehe. cute!

Photobucket
The red ones are with black sesame flavoured fillings

Photobucket
The green and white ones are with peanut flavoured fillings. I prefer peanut flavour.

Photobucket
Zhuang posing with tang yuan. Fake smile. haha.

People say winter solstice is the day with longest nighttime and shortest daytime. But I don't see any difference. lol. Maybe I was not too observant.

Entry about Christmas celebration is coming up next. Hehe. I'm still uploading the pics from my camera. Still working on it.

Christmas trees

Christmas is around the corner and every shop in the malls had dressed themselves with Christmas trees.

I had collected some pictures of christmas trees to share here. Some are normal. Some are really creative.

Let me show you some normal ones first. Normal ones are decorated with ribbons and ornaments and some lights.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

PhotobucketPhotobucket

PhotobucketPhotobucket
I think these two are overdo of Christmas tree decoration. Haha. Too many ornaments on the tree.

Then it will make the whole Christmas tree looks like an abandoned one.

Photobucket
Like the one in Midvalley which I don't really like. This Chrismas tree is about 80% covered by twigs and some dried maple leaves.

Found two Christmas trees in The Garden Midvalley with really creative 'ornaments'
Photobucket
Couldn't take any closer shot. But the 'ornaments' are fake apples and oranges. Very creative indeed.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
GAP's Christmas trees use wool balls as ornaments. Cool!

Some Christmas trees itself is different from normal ones.

Photobucket
My favourite of all the Christmas trees.
This shop sells wrapping papers and boxes and ribbons in Midvalley. The owner use their own ribbons to create a Christmas tree. Great idea.

Photobucket
Snowman-like Christmas tree?

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Left: Using paper to assemble Christmas tree cone shape. Found in Starbucks The Garden Midvalley. Right: Can there be any simpler? Found in Jusco Pyramid.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Left: Nice shiny ornaments but hanging on dried tree? Found in KLCC. Right: Looks like leafless Christmas tree but what's with the coins dangling on the tree? Pre-deco for CNY? Found in Kelana Square

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Found these two in the Precious That shop in Midvalley if not mistaken. Left: maple leaves-assembled Christmas tree. Right: glowing Christmas tree

Found this really nice Christmas tree jewelries in Midvalley.

PhotobucketPhotobucket
So cute la...

Photobucket
Living Cabin is always filled with Christmas trees during Christmas season. Nice lighting. =)

I think this is the coolest one. I found this when I wanted to send friendster comments to friends.

Photobucket
Good idea. Low cost summore.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Went to Pyramid for dinner yesterday with WY, Aud and GP. Then went to Halo Cafe with WY and GP. Very long time didn't go Halo already. Sitting there listening to songs and shouting chatting with friends. I regard this as luxury. =)
