Family Bond

I told Andrew today that our family was about to go screen free on Sundays.

(Charger football is coming!)

I said we may even make every Sunday screen free for some good old fashion family bonding...

He interrupts and says "family bonding? Like James Bond? This is gonna be so cool!"

Yep. That's our boy!

Hungry, Hungry Hippo

Image

I overheard the following conversation while Andrew was playing his new favorite game, Hungry, Hungry Hippo

"Hi what's your name ?"

"Hippo."

"Really?! That's my name! I'm Hippo too."

"Do you want to play with me?"

"I can't. I'm stuck to this board."

Oh my word- I laughed so hard that Andrew says "Shh... The hippos are talking, Mom".

An Andrew Funny

Image

Andrew has a bucket of sticks with different activities listed on each stick.  Today he chose pick a game which turned into build with blocks.

As we were sitting building I started to hum a song I sang when I was his age, "Blue Skies and Rainbows."

"Mom. Why are you singing?"

"I sing when I'm happy."

"Well be grumpy!"

"So I'll stop singing?"

"Yes, please."

(I didn't stop)

Blessed.

It's been a whirl wind of activity the past few months.  Truly enjoying every moment with the Young boys.  Andrew is growing up so fast.  Fully potty trained and learning to dress himself along with his ABC's and counting and overall learning what it means to be a light in the dark world.  We have had more good days than bad and we are just soaking up every single minute as a family of 3.

This month I started to declutter the baby gear in the attic.  I mourned for a day as I pulled out all the sweet little outfits, baby carrier and miscellaneous baby stuff that was on hold as we discussed should we or shouldn't we plan for Baby #2.

One night I decided to throw the doors open and bless those who were in their season of newborn babies.  I prayed that the Lord would bring people into my life who would benefit greatly from our decluttering.  I started to post on our neighborhood for sale sight and within days, it was all gone.

We have blessed a military family, a single woman and a few friends during this process.  It has felt good to know that others are getting to use these things that have been sitting in our attic collecting dust.  I have been at peace with the letting go and truly look forward to what the future holds for the Young Family of 3.

And then this conversation took place.  As I was cleaning out my childhood box, Andrew found one of my stuffed bunnies I had in my room as a little girl.  "Oh! Mom! This is a girl Bunbun for my little sister.  I know she is going to love it!!"

"Well Andrew, what happened to being a family of 3?"

"Oh no, Mom! My little sister is coming."  He looked me straight in the eye and said, "She will make us a family of 4 soon."

"Well. Okay little dude--let's just wait and see what the Lord has in store for us."

I later texted Jeff and said "Houston we have a problem."

There is nothing to report beyond this conversation but I wanted to document it for memory sake.

The fact that I gave it all away should let you all know that I am fully at peace with the decision to be a family of 3.  And I know that if we do have another miracle come our way that God will provide for our needs just He has done over and over again.

Batman & Batgirl Go on a Date

Image

Andrew & I decided to go on a date tonight.  "Mom it's been a long time since Batman took 'Bat-grill' on a date! Let's go!!"

He chose every place we went.  I just drove ;)

The trampoline park was the first stop where we ran, jumped and played jr dodge ball together.  His laugh makes my day!  Then we went to Chee-wees(aka Chilis) for dinner.  The final stop was to Bahamas Bucks for So-cuns (snow cones) where we played Disney match game and she-burred (shivered).  On the drive home we threw open my sunroof, rolled down the windows and danced to the music. Well, I danced because Andrew was still trying to get "his sheburs gone" and declared he can't dance and she-burr at the same time. we ended our evening cuddling and watching Lion King.  His new favorite this week.  He asked me to lay down with him for a few minutes before he fell asleep.  We cuddled a few minutes then he says "goodnight mom.  I'll call you when the sun comes up!"

And that was the end of our date .  In love this kid!!

He EARNED it!

Image

Over a year ago, Jeff and I were discussing with Andrew possible rewards for potty training.  Andrew quickly requested a skateboard.  "Great ! Tee tee on the potty and it's yours!" The very next day, he is off with Jeff's parents.  They did not realize this conversation took place & somehow Andrew worked the system and brought home a skateboard.  Smart kid! They were so sweet to buy this for him but since we already had the conversation that he had to earn it by potty training, we let them know that sadly the skateboard would have to go on the shelf until Andrew did his part.  They fully understood & helped encourage Andrew to do his part.

Finally this past weekend, we pulled the skateboard off of the top shelf in garage and it's now forever his. I texted them and said, " He EARNED it!!"
