Last Saturday, we visited the family of a friend who involved in an accident. Their car skidded and crashed the median in the highway in the near-fatal accident where the black ice (icy condition of the road, after wet snow) was said to be the caused, since there was no overtaking or sudden lane changing during that time, and no other car was involved.
The car was totally out of control. The front tire came out and the friction of the metal caused the sparks of the fire. The front mirror scattered into pieces.Thick and black smoke and finally fire came out from underneath their car. The fear that the car would finally burst into fireball began to struck her mind. Both her children was speechless still in the back of the car.
The mother was heavily pregnant and was at her 8th month when the accident took place. Subhanallah, with her big womb, could still jump out of the car while the car was still moving at 100 to 110km/h.. Even more surprising, this mother, whose even small movement was normally restricted due to the heaviness and weakness in her third semester pregnancy, could turn back and pulled the automatic door from outside, while the car was still on the move at 100km/h.
She drained her last energy to save her two beloved children, dragged them away from the car and took them to the side of the road, before she completely lost her energy and passed out on the side of the cold highway.. while watching the car skidded direct onto the concrete block on the side of the road with her husband still in the car!
When she finally regained her consciousness, a passerby took them inside his car so that they can warm up. It was a very cold day, a flurry day following a heavy snow the day before that. Her husband finally came out of the car uninjured, after several kicks on the door, since the door was stuck and completely damaged.
After a while, the children were still unable to utter a single word while the husband couldnt even recognize their own son, as the aftermath of the traumatic experience. When the paramedic finally arrived, they expected to see casualties due to the terrifying sight of the car. The car was in total damage and hit the concrete wall, but all of them escaped without single bruise which, needless to say, surprised everyone there, including the motorists who helped them.
There are few points to ponder:
1. It was an automatic car, the door will not open if the car was still on the move.
But the mom managed to force the door open to save her children, while the husband still has to kick the door to go out.
2. The mom was in her 8th month pregnancy and could barely sit for a long time. But the energy she gained in such situation was such a miracle and unimaginable.
2. The mirrors broke and scattered to pieces due to the collision but they escaped without single bruise, which was very unacceptable to the logic of our mind.
The mom said that she saw a "white wing" just before the mirror broke, which definitely wasnt the airbag. The wing hid her face from the scatter of the mirror, thus completely saved her from any injury that could have been caused even by a single piece of flying glass. Walllahua'lam..
3. When the daughter finally able to speak again, she hold her mother's hand and whisper, "I love you, Ibu"
4. The first word that came from her son after a long silent was, "Thank you, Ibu, for saving my life. If you didnt save me, I dont know what would have happened to me."
I was speechless to hear such stories. My heart melted. And I fell to tears. Such story was too touching and reminds us, on how we were distracted to such hatred and ugliness of our own heart, when the nearest thing to us is the death. Life is so fragile.. and can be so short and unpredictable.
It also remind me that a mother is not a job neither a position. A mother is a gift of love.
A mother gave her life to Him, when she willingly carry us in her womb and finally gave birth to us, fully aware that she was risking her own life. A mother gave her life once, and would do it again and again for us, expecting almost nothing in return.
He (PBUH) said, "Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then your nearest, then nearest". [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
