Safety at Roblox

Roblox is fundamentally different from other gaming platforms. Our users range in age from 5 to over 25+ years old. This is why we have taken an age-based approach to safety with separate, more controlled accounts for our youngest users.

We also acknowledge the complexities of online environments, and recommend parents have ongoing conversations with their children about digital safety, supported by our parent resources.

Roblox Kids & Roblox Select accounts

Roblox has accounts designed to be appropriate for our younger users (under 16). Roblox Kids (5-8) and Roblox Select (9-15) accounts have built-in guardrails that help keep users in age-appropriate environments, and give parents more visibility and control.

Our 3-Step Review Process for Games

For a game to be available to play in Roblox Kids or Select accounts, it must pass our 3-step review process.

  • Maturity ratings: Games must meet our maturity rating requirements to be available to play in Roblox Kids and Select accounts.

  • Creator verification: Creators must verify their identity. They can do so with a government-issued ID or parent verification if they’re under 16. They must also show commitment to the platform by providing a refundable publishing fee or having a subscription. Creators can find more information here.

  • Ongoing reviews: Games must pass through reviews that look for policy-violating content. These reviews include multimodal moderation, which evaluates contextual scenes (not just individual item) and uses real-world gameplay from older users.
3-Step Selection Review for Games": Step 1: Verified Developers; Step 2: Real-time Evaluations; Step 3: Maturity Ratings & Restrictions.

Building the future of safety

We are continually working to strengthen our safety systems, investing in new protections and techniques for removing bad actors when we find them.

Reporting and Blocking

No one should be made to feel uncomfortable on Roblox. If you or your child experience something that makes you feel unsafe or unwell, you can report and block the user or game.
