Solution to a myriad of problems! After trying all kinds of battery operated candles and small lamps to get the right lighting in the bedroom, I found this fabulous dimmer. It is perfect for a bedside lamp that is always too bright no matter what size bulbs are used. You can slide the dimmer switch all the way down and have the perfect mood lighting without all the glare and no batteries required! The switch is super smooth to operate and has a noticeable stop feel when you turn it all the way off. We also tried it attached to a Hitachi Magic Wand massaging tool and it worked PERFECTLY to slow the motor down just a bit to a perfect speed needed. It worked so well I'm going to order another dimmer in white to keep attached to the Magic Wand!

Works well. Looks like a lamp extension cord and is well made. Can be used with incandescent lamps, lights that have dimmable LEDs, as well as other things like plug-in massagers that are a bit too powerful. The slider works well and the output change in lighting is fairly smooth.

A friend of ours gave us one of these a few years ago but it wasn't as well made. We used it for a lamp in our bedroom. When it wore out we realized how much we appreciated it so looked on line for a replacement. This one is better quality than the old one and because I'd had difficulty finding what I wanted, I purchased 2 "just in case." A couple of weeks ago we bought a new hanging lamp for our kitchen table. We don't always want the same light intensity, sometimes a low light to sit and talk and enjoy a cup of tea, sometimes to read the paper. The other problem we had was figuring out how to locate the inline switch where it was convenient.

Finally it dawned on me that I still had the extra dimmer on the closet shelf. The cord for the remote dimmer switch was just the right length and worked out quite well. If these last even as long as the cheaper one we had we'll be quite satisfied.

Update after 3 1/2 yrs of use.Both of these have been in daily use without a problem. I read a lot of the reviews for this product and have my own opinion, which may be wrong, I have not found either of these dimmers to be poorly made. Could one get hot in use? Yes, if the load is more than what it's rated for. Some of the complaints could be from the bulbs or fixtures. We like them enough that we'll be ordering them again very soon.

This dimmer really did the job for me.

I purchased an old lamp at an antique store, but there were two problems with the lamp: the switch is rather hard to reach, and I don't absolutely trust the wiring... I don't want to leave it plugged in when I'm not around.

This dimmer switch was a great solution to both issues. The lamp plugs right into it. There is a long cord for the dimmer switch, so I can move the switch where I want it while leaving the light stationary. The sliding mechanism on the switch slides smoothly through the dimming cycle, but changes the friction level when it reaches the "off" position, so I know for sure when the power to the lamp is all the way off. Perfect. I can leave my lamp plugged into the switch with no worries about the old wiring.

Two other reviews struck me as a bit off, so I wanted to mention my opinion on each matter raised.

* One reviewer said that the switch has a little light, so she can find it visually when searching for it in her bed linens. The switch I received has no such light. This is actually better for me. Less power consumption, and I'm not one to misplace my switches.

* One reviewer said that you couldn't dim a lamp plugged into the switch all the way down, but that it would go half-bright or more. This is true when turning the switch on: it jumps from full-off to half-bright. But then you can dim it back down to where the lamp is barely glowing.

One other plus to mention: the switch works silently. No loud snaps when you're turning it on or off.

It took a bit to get the product out of its package but that's ok. Despite that, the item looks great. It's a simple light dimmer that has only one function, to dim lights. The dimmer is about 6 ft. 4 in. in length, the switch itself is 3 inches. The dimmer switch stops about 3/10 to the bottom (as seen in the photo). There's a "stopping" point at the 3/10 mark that'll shut the light off. The slider is very smooth and doesn't have any disruptive stopping points. There are also small little "stubs" on the back of the dimmer control to prevent it from sliding on any surfaces.

Normally I would add a pros and cons list to the items I review but this item has been splendid. It's a simple light dimmer that does what its supposed to do. I would truly recommend this product to anyone who want's to add a light dimmer anywhere in their household.

DO NOTE: You will need a light bulb that supports any type of light dimming capabilities. Having a plain light bulb will cause odd and "possible" problematic issues with the electrical current flow to the bulb.

This dimmer switch works perfectly with our table lamp on a dresser in our baby's nursery. The lamp on the brightest setting is too bright when getting baby ready for bed or getting up for middle of the night diaper changes and feedings. The dim light is optimal to keep the baby drowsy so she will go back to sleep more easily. The dimmer is small and easy to hide if necessary. The white color is neutral and works well with the nursery's color scheme. The switch slides easily to the brightest setting. There is a little "catch" when sliding back down to the off setting and you have to make sure you push it down all the way with a bit more effort. This dimmer would also work great as a night light if you have a child who is scared of the dark. It is also best to use when getting your young child to bed as the dim light will help them fall asleep more easily. I highly recommend this product for people with babies and young children!

My wife bought some new outside white LED Christmas lights. We installed these lights on the gutter and when the timer kicked in...WOW were these LED's bright. We've not had this problem before. They were so bright that they lite up the whole front of our house. At night the light shined inside our house and kept us up. I looked on AMAZON for a dimmer and order this. This has been perfect. I was worried it wouldn't work with the LED lights but it worked fine. The slider switch works fine and we were able to dim the lights to a perfect level. Unfortunately if a Boeing 747 needs to land near us it will no longer have our Christmas lights to guide them. I did order a second one for our inside tree since those lights were a little bright too. Both dimmers are working fine. Only suggestion is to make it 3-pronged instead of 2-pronged. All of the x-mas lights are 2-prong but we had them plugged into a 3-prong extension cord. I had some adapters laying around and all was fine.

Easy to use slide button. Durable. I have been using to dim incandescent lamp for night time use.

I used it for a set of scone lights in the bedroom. Placed the switch on my night stand great dimer switch plus I don't even have to get out of bed to get the lights on or off. Works good no issues with me. Would buy again. A+

Bought it to replace a older bulkier dimmer. Quite the nice little dimmer, that works great with my 3 x 40w lamp. No stutter or noise. I'm very satisfied.
