Stephen Gammell is the illustrator of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, and Scary Stories 3, as well as many other books. He won the Caldecott Medal for Song and Dance Man by Karen Ackerman. He also earned Caldecott Honors for Where the Buffaloes Begin by Olaf Baker and The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant.

    本書は英語圏の小学校中〜高学年くらいを対象にした読みものかと思います。

    あまり英語が得意ではない高校一年生の生徒（もちろん日本人です）と一緒に読みましたが、

    文法的には「たまにわからない」程度、語彙的には「辞書を片手に」程度で、

    内容的にも洋書の読書入門編としては最適だと思いました。

    お話の内容としては、どこかで聞いたようなお話ばかりですが、

    英語で読むことにより感じる新鮮さがあるので案外楽しめます。

    This is a classic collection that still holds up. The stories are just the right balance of spooky and fun, making them perfect for elementary school kids who want a little scare without it being overwhelming.
