this has the same active strength as a brand I used to use topically that I would get at a store that is black and white (catch my drift). I really must stress that when you transfer this into a spray bottle you absolutely must have an opaque container that is free of metal. this stuff doesn't like light and will turn back into just salt water if its exposed to light, heat, or air. Also in metal it can rust. but with this gallon size I've been able to throw away all my other disinfecting things for this. and liberally douse myself in this and my skin is GLOWING. no harsh smells, no stains, I'm just living my life germ free and with glowing skin-endlessly buying things on amazon to make my life better haha

I am medically and scientifically trained, and I did extensive research on cleaning products before buying this. I have the predictable misfortune of age-related night sweats. Managing the smell and laundry created by this is a nightmare for a busy person. I also have a dog, who is relatively clean, but is still a dog.

I resorted to spraying my sheets with various fabric-cleaning sprays and even enzymes to help control the sweat buildup/smell and delay the need to wash my bedding. I primarily use natural bedding (linen, wool, silk) for breathability and to reduce static (my dogs' silky hair is prone to it). Having to switch back and forth between different products based on what fabrics they were safe for was a pain. Also, many products leave residue and build up that eventually render future spraying less effective, until you wash them out. This product leaves no residue and is safe on all natural fabrics (even silk and cashmere). Because it leaves no residue, I can use it day after day and wash my sheets on a normal schedule, like a normal person (haha).

The chemical reality: to leave no residue, the compound must naturally dissociate into its component atoms relatively easily. That means this product has a shelf life of months once opened and exposed to the air. If you use this regularly, it won't be an issue. I go through one bottle a month. But if you use it infrequently, you should buy smaller bottles that you can replace every 6 months.

It leaves a tiny bit of chloride on the surface of whatever you spray it on, once dried, in mostly irrelevant amounts. I use this to skip dry cleaning days, sanitize rugs and coats… literally almost anything.

There is ONE type of fabric that this will not interact well with: wood pulp-based fabrics. These are human-made fabrics, despite the label claiming they are natural. If you have to grind something into a pulp and heavily process it to make it into a weaveable substrate, it's not “natural,” and it has no natural barrier protection to bleaching by chemicals like these. The chloride that is innocuous to proteins in “whole” fabrics (silk, wool, cotton, flax) will bleach anything that has unstable dyes (non-commercial jobs), and pulp-fabrics like rayon, lyocell, viscose, bamboo, modal, lignin.

It isn't completely innocuous for silk and wool, but if you spray lightly (vs drenching), it will not discolor the product or denature the proteins, except after prolonged use. I'm comfortable with the fact that I eventually have to replace these anyway. The point is quick evaporation, so no dribbles, drips, or spills on these.

Synthetics like polyester or nylon are completely safe to use it on.

For people talking about this being “imitation nature”, you don't know what you are talking about. Chemical compounds like this don't know if they were made intentionally in a cell or intentionally in a lab. They are too small molecularly to be “tagged” or altered in any way. There are only three atoms in a molecule of HOCl. There is no “fake” version of three atoms with identical electron shells and bonds.

This product reduces how frequently I have to wash things. For that alone, it saves me money and is worth the price tag. The fact that I don't need to babysit it is great, too. If the bottle bothers you and you use a lot of it, it's also sold in gallon sizes, and you can use whatever spray bottle you like. HOWEVER, light causes the molecule to dissociate into salt water FAST. So do not put it in a clear bottle. The bottle must be completely opaque and made of only plastic. And keep it in a closed cabinet to limit light from reaching it when not in use. (colored glass is not good enough.)

It is a powerful disinfectant that kills most traces of microbial life on hard surfaces you spray it on (less effective on fabrics due to porosity, but still highly effective at lowering the microbial load). To get full sterility, you would need to use much higher concentrations and saturation. For home use, this is as good as it gets and virtually residue-free.

Just don't spray it directly on living things. It's an irritant until it evaporates. There are medical skin disinfectants based on this product, but you don't know who will get a reaction. The chemical, even when released by neutrophils in your body, damages anything adjacent. Your body endures this damage to attack invaders effectively. But when you read about free radicals, this is where a lot of them come from. Neutrophils and other immune processes are trying to protect you, while causing incidental damage that can accumulate to measurable, lasting harm if unchecked. (This is why we try to keep you from getting infections, with vaccines, which cause way less inflammation)

Please note that this can easily bleach composite wood furniture. Sealed solid wood should be safe from incidental mists drifting in its direction. Unsealed or worn woods could get a dusky white coating and dry out from this product. (Cl- ions draw moisture).

Just keep it away from these new modern wood-pulp furniture and wood pulp clothing/bedding, as a general rule.

This product is also corrosive to metals. You might not notice it immediately with light sprays, but over time, you will have to replace them more often. (The steel springs in spray-bottle triggers will fail in a few months, and there's nothing you can do about it. Plastic spray mechanisms will be unaffected.)

Hypochlorous acid is seriously one of the best cleaning products ever. It’s gentle, easy to use, and makes me feel like I’m actually getting things clean without using harsh-smelling chemicals. WTF. Why have I not heard more about this before or bought this earlier? It literally helps remove odors. I live in an apartment with my pug and my husband who fart and shed a lot and this product just makes the apartment smell less... Theres no masking odor. Theres no fragrance. But I spritz it in the hallway where we have all our wet boots and sweaters and jackets (we live in seattle), and I spritz it near the trash can in the kitchen when the trash piles up too much, and it does somehow absorb bad smells? Not all of the bad smells, but I can confidently say that this product eliminates >50% of bad odor; trash, old garbage disposal, dust, just old clothing; any of those lingering smells are gone with this product.

Fabulous safe cleaner! I think people should know that these types of cleaners are safe to use for babies, children, and pets. They are not chemical cleaners that are hazardous or can leave a residue or also affect the environment in a negative way..

This is the proper way to clean and sanitize if you want to actually kill bacteria, viruses, and anything else that’s lingering in your household

Loved this disinfectant cleaner, reminds me of hospital level clean. After I finished cleaning my bathroom, kitchen (including light switches and door knobs), my home felt next level clean without the bombarding bleach or chemical smell. So glad I found this and will be repurchase. My only complaint, and it did take away from the experience was the nozzle it came with spins the entire time I am trying to use it and the liquid does drip out. It does spray but the nozzle just will not stay in place and it was/is a bit frustrating to lose the product while trying to use. I will have to look at replacing the bottle and putting the cleaner into another bottle, which would be a shame. I will still purchase again with the hope I get a better nozzle 😊.

I have reusable bottles I fill up with this, and I spray it on my cleaning days to help with odour elimination from animals and dust mites, and mustiness. The air feels a lot cleaner after using this.
