[Update1 06/27] Fits my 17.3" Dell Precision M6600 (Sort Of)

[Update1 06/27] Fits my 17.3" Dell Precision M6600 (Sort Of)
Update 1 - 06/27 - Approximately one week after my purchase of this Backpack, I got an email from Amazon "Your purchase of the AmazonBasics Backpack for Laptops Up To 17-Inch comes with 6 months of FREE Unlimited Online Storage from Amazon Cloud Drive (a $29.99 value) " . Wow this was unexpected and a pleasant surprise as I did not read of this promotion anywhere in the description and it basically pays itself of the entire cost of the Backpack. I am not sure if this is a temporary or permanent promotion. Original Review : I purchased the AmazonBasics Backpack half expecting to return it as I was not entirely sure if it could fit my huge 17.3" Dell Precision M6600 Mobile workstation that I use for work . I mean this laptop is big, thick and heavy - It weighs in excess of 8 pounds and is measures 19.5" inches diagonal externally. But as you can see in my video that it has no issues swallowing my laptop with the least amount of shoehorning or protrusion - So I would declare this a fit , granted that the laptop will only fit in the main compartment outside the laptop sleeve. (see my video) Space, Build Quality & Comfort ------------------------------------------ - The backpack has tons of space and compartments (almost too many for my requirements) to carry anything you can think of. I carry mainly my office laptop, powerbank, stationery , towels, lunchbox, headphones, documents and the occasional tablet in it daily with plenty of room to spare - The material of the backpack is fairly good for its price but its certainly not Jansport good. - With all the stuff I carry around my backpack weighs in excess of 12 pounds. Even with this heavy weight I find it comfortable to wear on my shoulders with no unnecessary stress or fatigue points on my body - The shoulder straps seem to be holding up to the 12 pound weight fairly well so far. I will update if that changes in the long run - As you can see it has no issues fitting my 17.3" Dell Precision M6600 The Good ----------------- - Had loads of space and compartments to swallow anything you throw at it and is expandable further - Build quality is surprisingly good at this price point - Zippers glide smoothly - Good looking - Comfortable - Even weighing at 12 pounds after I put my stuff into it, I found it comfortable to wear on my shoulders. Its padded in the right places The Not So Good ------------------------- - The only minor issue I found so far was an aesthetic one - Because its designed to be expandable and carry so much stuff - If you dont put a lot of things in it , the front part collapses and looks weird and squishy (see my video) . I wish that Amazon would have provided it a more rigid structure - Laptops greater than 17 inches will not fit in the laptop sleeve - They will only fit outside it in the main compartment. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase and it is really a great value for money option which fulfills my need of fitting my large laptop ,have sufficient space to carry other stuff like my lunchbox, chargers and still be comfortable to wear

    Tough, well-made pack for the price!

    Outstanding backpack for the price point. I run an entertainment business, and am lugging gear and materials around town several nights a week. This pack has held up beyond my expectations. It has plenty of room for my laptop, small mixer, microphones, cords & cables, plus assorted odds & ends. Being in Seattle, where it's awfully wet about 8 months out of the year, I can attest that the waterproofing works quite well. Have not had any issues with water getting into the pack, even while walking in heavy rain (I also treat the outside with waterproofing spray, for added protection, and highly recommend doing so).

    I'm especially pleased with the quality of the material/construction. While it isn't as rugged as my hiking backpack, it's well-made, with decently thick material and good stitching. With other packs I've owned, a common failure was that the "walls" between compartments would tear; no such issues here after more than a year of constant use. Zippers are still just fine, too. A couple of nitpicks: the mesh side pockets could be a bit stouter. One of them tore recently, but it's not a huge deal and is mostly my fault, anyway. Also, this backpack has a great little pocket on one of the straps, which is a perfect place for my pocket knife. Unfortunately for me, I tend to carry a backpack slung over my right shoulder, but the pocket is on the left strap, so getting to my knife while carrying the pack requires putting the pack down. Having a pocket on both straps would be ideal (Do it Amazon! Do it!). It has a charging port, too, which is a nice feature many packs at this price lack.

    Overall, this backpack works well, looks good (black is a popular color in the PNW), and is pretty darned tough. Great value!

    This book bag is awesome. It's made of fine material and it's extremely sturdy. There are a lot of compartments, which may seem overwhelming at first, but once you start using the backpack more regularly, you'll be able to make sense of what to put where. You would think this back pack would cost as much as other name brand back packs considering its outstanding quality, but for 30$ this is an absolute steal. Northface can run you anywhere from $67 to $100+ on Amazon. For half the price, you can get a backpack that does the same thing and could possibly even be better. I love the colors, the hint of orange really catches my eye since orange is my favorite color. I was fortunate enough to get this for free with my Amazon credit, but I would gladly pay up to 100$ for this bag. That's honestly what it's worth. The drink compartments on the side are clutch and even have a clip that goes around the bottle and holds it in place. It fits nicely on my back without having to be adjusted and feels sturdy and comfortable when walking around. I'm not worried about it hanging too low or looking awkwardly packed (bulging) if I have a lot of stuff inside it.

    The only thing that I don't like is zipping and unzipping the main compartment - where you'd store your laptop. There's a layer of fabric built into the bookbag that covers this zipper and you need to be careful when zipping and unzipping, otherwise you risk getting the zipper caught if you quickly try to zip it up. However, this is hardly a reason for me to even consider sending the bag back or stop using it. I would rather be cautious anyway when zipping to preserve the bookbag so I'm kind of glad that it has that layer over the zipper.

    Overall, this bookbag is awesome. I can't be more satisfied. I would recommend it for any one. I'm an elementary school teacher so this is perfect for me. I don't have to carry anything in my hands and can transport my lunch, books, binders, laptop.. anything that I need to take to and from school can fit comfortably in this bag, and there will still be more room for other random things like an umbrella that can stay in there incase of a rainy day.

    If you're on the fence, just buy this anyway because you will be surprised. You can't find anything better for this price. And hey, if it's not for you, you can always just send it back and get a refund!

    I bought this backpack for work. Prior to using this to carry my laptop and files, I was using a bag from Duluth--super heavy leather that weighed as much as a small child empty. So that had to go. I read work backpack reviews, believe it or not. And this one was highly recommended because the zippers are strong, there are multiple compartments, and the straps are well-padded. I agree with all of those assessments and would add that there is a strong carrying strap on the top. I detract one star because, like many back packs, this one tips forward. All. The. Time. You can't set it down and expect it to stay upright. Again, kind of like a small child. But I've adjusted my expectations and am really pleased with the four zipper compartments and the ease with which I can now organize and carry everything I need for work. I would also concur with other reviewers that the mesh waterbottle pockets should likely not be used for anything heavy. They won't last long. I have just ignored them; I pack a lunch bag separately and the water goes in there. So yes, this is a great work back pack and the price is hard to beat.

    The unabatingly impressive backpack that I didn't even realize I wanted
    Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2015

    I travel a lot for business and I used a laptop case to carry my files, receipts, laptop, chargers, etc. As an airline carry-on option, the laptop case was convenient because of its size, but it had one strap, and I was finding that my tendency to put it on my right shoulder over the years was causing my back to go a little out of whack, and switching sides constantly was not the solution I needed.

    This backpack was discounted a bit for Black Friday, and having seen the quality of AmazonBasics products before, I knew that $30 was a fair price and I expected a decent product based on the reviews. When it arrived, I was able to take everything from my laptop case - passport, flash drive, files, chargers and more - and transfer it into this backpack with ease. There are dedicated pockets that are intelligently sized (there is one small pocket that is flash-drive-shaped, which was amazing). And, because of the way it's constructed, it's smaller and lighter than my laptop case. From the beginning, I was impressed, but that was only the beginning.

    The backpack itself complies with my airline's (and, let's be reasonable, most airlines') definition of a "personal item" rather than "carry-on luggage," whereas my laptop case was too wide to be considered a personal item (though most airlines wouldn't bug you, still, it's always better to be able to point to the regulation and say you're in the right!). This bag maximizes economy of space brilliantly, and fits under the seat in front of you on the plane, so no rummaging through the overhead compartments looking for your bag. I thought the bag couldn't get any better, but it didn't stop there.

    I was initially concerned about whether having a backpack rather than a laptop case would appear "unprofessional," but as a traveling salesperson, it didn't appear that anyone judged me for having a backpack rather than a case. The zippers are strong and large, so no cheap metal or plastic breaking on you as you try to open a zipper that got stuck on cloth. Everything is laid out very well. Having all my chargers, cables and files handy was useful during my presentations, when I was able to pull out hotspots, folders and other things with ease, and even keep my coins together for easy reach while paying tolls.

    I'm excited to use this backpack for personal 1-2 day trips also, because I can definitely fit a bit of clothing in the other pocket I didn't use (there was so much space, I didn't need to!) and be able to travel in a plane, train or automobile without having to worry about lugging around...well, luggage. The side compartment is perfect for the average bottle of water, for people that want to use this backpack in the outdoors or for long trips, and just about any laptop will fit inside the slit in the back.

    If the events of Amazon's history as a company in the last two decades had only culminated in the design of this backpack, that would honestly be enough to justify its existence. Of course, I'm exaggerating, but this backpack is yet another example among the many reasons more and more of my purchases are being made through Amazon. Their reputation for quality and economy of design understates the achievements of this backpack, which sets standards beyond all those previously achieved by Amazon.

    Thank you again, Amazon, and I look forward to seeing what the next item is that you decide to improve in ways I didn't even realize I wanted.

    So pleased with this bag!

    I bought this laptop backpack because I have been spending 3 days of my week in Coffee Shoppe’s while my husband is working. He doesn’t work well at home so each day I have been packing up a cloth grocery bag with snacks, bottled water, my laptop, my kindle ect and going with him to spend the day in different coffee shops around my city.

    Lugging all my stuff around on the bus in a cloth grocery back was so difficult and I had been looking for a good back pack that wasn’t too expensive, but still good quality and that had plenty of room for all the stuff I need and bring with me. After searching for a while and seeing that even normal Jansport backpacks that aren’t designed to carry laptops were $50 or more I was getting discouraged until I came across this Gem!

    This Bag carries 2 large laptops with a special area for both, has a holder for my water bottle, several individual pockets for things like my keys, medications, and snacks. It has a built in wallet type area that will fit cell phones, pens, pencils, small notebooks.

    Plus 2 or 3 outer pockets on the bag itself for smaller items.

    One of my biggest worries when looking to buy was that the laptop would be slamming against my back while I wore it. But this bag has plenty of cushioning between the back and where the laptop is stored.

    This bag would work for Students in place of a laptop case, or could easily be used for hikers or campers. It is versatile and has cushioning on the shoulder/arm pads and a handle for comfortable holding and wearing.

    The material seems strong and put together well.

    For the price on this product it is so worth it in my opinion. Normal Backpacks with way less storage can go for so much money and I was able to get this for $25.29!

    My only real disappointment was that there were no options to personalize it to my taste. I didn’t get a color choice like you do with most back packs or laptop cases. This is a black back pack with small areas of orange threads. While Orange is not my favorite it is subtle enough that I was okay with not having an option on color. Overall the bag appears like a normal back pack would, with an affordable price and a variety of pockets and holders on the bag that make up for the lack of color options!

    I am so pleased with this purchase and so glad I decided to get it!

    Just received this bag a few days ago and already love it. I am using for a workout bag to take to the gym. The bag material is very durable. Zippers are thick and strong and should last a long time. There are multiple zipper pocket sections so that clean and dirty clothes/towels can be stored. Straps are rugged. You could also use the bag for its original purpose which is a book bag/laptop bag. It would be excellent for school supplies. Provides enough padding to protect your laptop and has a front pocket for keys, pens/pencils and other school supplies. I got it for a great price of $20.99, but just checked and it is now on sale for $19.99. Only downside for me, it only comes in black or I would have bought one for my daughter. Definitely recommend if you need a great book bag at a great price and don't care about name brands.

    I had been shopping for a replacement bag for several months, and had narrowed it down to a few choices. I finally chose this Amazon Basics laptop backpack. When I received it I was first impressed by how it felt in my hands. It doesn't feel flimsy at all, but very sturdy and well-made.

    I moved all my stuff from the old bag to the new bag and had plenty of room left over. There are multiple pockets for all your things, and the zippers are very smooth. I have a 16" laptop which fits the laptop sleeve with ease and the padding leaves me confident it's well-protected as I carry it about.

    The shoulder straps are very comfortable and I could carry this bag for a long time if needed. I would recommend this bag highly.

    Not good, not bad.

    I don't know how I feel about this backpack. However, let me get into the specifics.

    I am a college student in their last semester. When my other high sierra backpack tore, I was devastated for two reasons: 1) I loved my backpack. I loved the design, the structure, and the pockets it had, and 2) as a college student with not much money this was a major blow to my finances.

    Now, onto the review. It fits my laptop. I have a 15.6" Lenovo laptop, and one of the reasons I bought this is because it was supposed to fit it. My laptop scratches the two curving sides of the backpack when I close it. If I had to put it in a sleeve, my laptop probably would not fit. Hence, the 17" claim can be put to rest: it would not fit a 17" laptop, unless you have remarkable cramming skills. I docked a star for this because I know it wouldn't fit as nicely (which it should as it's well below the 17" limit) with the sleeve on, which I intended to do during times of bad weather.

    Onto the zippers. The flaps that drape over the zippers are convenient and inconvenient. You can't open the bag very nicely while it's new, though I suspect the bag would probably stretch in time and the flaps will become more manageable. The zippers are nice quality, with one caveat: someone in a review said that it sounds like you're walking with a ton of change in your pocket. They're right. This backpack is noisy, but the zippers seem well made. My one fear is that the stitching for the zippers will come undone as it has for some other people -- if that begins to happen, I'll knock the backpack down another star.

    Now, onto my other big gripe with the bag: the space. As a college student, I put in my laptop, it's charger and a mouse, a one inch binder, a course packet, a tiny planner, a thin accordion folder organizer, and then filled the two spaces with pens, pencils, and all of your stationary needs. The bag looks full, very full. I won't be able to fit my lunch bag in it at all. There isn't very much space in this bag. My high sierra backpack could hold much more, which is saying something because it doesn't look near as bulky.

    And last: the water bottle holder. I have a Nalgene water bottle, which fit perfectly in my high sierra backpack (with room to spare for chapstick, the occasional pen, and even my wallet). The water bottle holder wouldn't hold a normal sized small water bottle, let alone my Nalgene one. It is, effectively, useless, unless I want to put pens and pencils in the bottle holder.

    The backpack seems well made, though, and it seems sturdy enough. I wanted something to hold my laptop, and I got it. I just don't know how I like it. I'll test it out for school tomorrow and if it feels off then I'll probably send it back.

    It's not great, but it fit everything I currently have along with my laptop. I would probably say that if it could fit more things like my lunchbox I wouldn't feel as disappointed. It isn't a bad backpack. And the price is fantastic.

    Will update as I keep it.

    This backpack is my life.

    I'm serious. I got this with a student discount when I started college, and it goes with me everywhere, with my entire life inside of it. The pockets are many, big, sturdy and legitimately functional. I think in the picture it showed entire binders fitting into the secondary pockets and I was skeptical about the physics of that, but somehow it works! It's not a huge bag at all, but somehow everything but the kitchen sink fits inside of it. The bag itself is very lightweight as well, despite having so many different compartments and being really sturdy. You can tell because the zippers are so "zippy" --they feel very smooth and withstand a lot of abuse being tugged at from weird angles without much protest. It's perfect because I can carry it around instead of a purse on light days, but then fill it with 3 binders, 2 text books, a laptop, a big journal, a million girl-things in the outter pocket, my wallet, my water bottle, my charging cords, my glasses, my lab-coat for bio, a sweater and my lunchbag. All with confidence that it won't fall apart, damage my fragile goods, or hurt my back. Because the back is reinforced for the computer compartment inside, it really does wonders when I'm lugging all my college gear around campus. ANY college student will tell you how important that is!!! I'm really really glad I picked this bag over the other ones I had in mind. The main drawback for me going in was its small size, but after this semester, when I realize how much it expanded that turned out to be a bonus! :)

    Werkt goed. Amazon is wel zo clever om al 1 week nadat ik deze rugzak kocht al om een review te vragen. Of deze lang meegaat kan ik nu nog niet veel zeggen dus 😅...

    Of toch!

    (ここに夏場は着替えのシャツなどを入れています)

    ブランドにこだわらず、安価で十分なバックパックを求めている人にはオススメの一品です。

    (全くの余談ですが、最近の流行りである「ショルダーベルトを長く伸ばして背負う」カタチはバックパックの機能を十分に使えていないと思います。きちんとショルダーを身体にフィットさせれば、この商品も疲れなく背負うことができます。)

    Bevor ich den Rucksack bestellt habe, habe ich mir natürlich diverse Bewertungen durchgelesen. Im Normalfall sind nur die negativen Kritiken interessant. Hier haben einige von Qualitätsmängeln gesprochen, dass die Riemen nicht gut verarbeitet sind oder auch abreißen. Das wäre für mich eine Katastrophe, denn ich transportiere mit dem Rucksack auch technischen Equipment: MacBook Pro, iPad, diverse Ladegeräte und USB-Kabel, USB-Stick, externe 2,5" Festplatte, Kopfhörer aber auch Unterlagen, habe meistens eine 1L Getränkeflasche dabei.

    === Qualität / Verarbeitung ===

    Beim Auspacken habe ich also erst einmal auf die Riemen geachtet und wie diese verarbeitet sind, hier konnte ich bisher nichts beanstanden. Beim Erstellen der Fotos für diese Rezension fiel mir allerdings ein Griff des Reißverschlusses auf. Das sieht aus als wäre es Dreck, jedoch kann man es nicht abkratzen. Ist wohl die Verarbeitung des Metalls. Sieht etwas unschön aus, mich persönlich stört es aber nicht weiter, andere Dinge sind mir bisher nicht aufgefallen.

    Ebenso sieht man an einer kleinen Stelle vorne an der Naht einen kurzen orangenen Faden. Vermutlich nicht sauber abgetrennt? Bisher macht er sonst aber keine Probleme.

    === Fächer + kleinstes Fach ===

    Was sehr positiv ist und deswegen habe ich mich auch für diesen Rucksack entschieden, sind eben die vielen vor allem meiner Meinung nach durchdachten Fächer. Wie oben beschrieben hab ich immer viele Dinge dabei, da ist es total hilfreich diverse Fächer nutzen zu können. Für Kleinkram bietet der Rucksack im vordersten Fach unterschiedliche Aufteilungen und auch Stiftehalter, letzteres ist für höchstens für den Apple Pencil interessant, den ich aber in der Hülle mit dem iPad aufbewahre.

    === Größtes Fach ===

    Im größten Fach hat man auch Unterteilungen in der mein 13,3" sowie mein 10,2" iPad, beide jeweils mit AmazonBasics Case perfekt untergebracht werden können. Zusätzlich verstau ich hier zum Beispiel auch die 1L Getränkeflasche (auch wenn es dafür außen an den Seiten Halter für gibt). Zudem hat man hier für genug Platz für weitere Sachen.

    === Zweitgrößtes Fach ===

    Das zweitgrößte Fach nutze ich mit einer alten Laptop-Hülle und Bewerbungsmappe (harter Kunststoff) um DIN-A4 Unterlagen sicher zu verstauen. Ein drittes Fach ist bei mir ungenutzt. Auch hier könnte man noch was unterbringen, jedoch muss ich sagen, dass durch die intensive Nutzung der anderen Fächer dieses Fach dann doch etwas "eingeengt" wird. Etwas klumpiges kriegt man wohl nicht mehr vernünftig unter.

    === Mini-Fach ===

    Relativ in der Mitte gibt es ein kleines Fach das mit nur einem Reißverschluss geöffnet wird, statt der sonstigen zwei. Das Fach ist nicht besonders groß aber gut um Kleinkram zu verstauen oder Dinge, die man schnell im Zugriff braucht ohne lange zu kramen. Bei mir ist dort eine kleine Anker LED-Taschenlampe verstaut und zusätzlich noch eine Packung Tempos und ein paar Brillenputztücher.

    === Seiten-Clips ===

    An den Seiten findet man jeweils nochmal einen Riemen und Clips, ggf. um bei viel Inhalt das Ganze stabil zusammenzuhalten? Falls es noch einen anderen Nutzen hat komm ich nicht drauf. Evtl. könnte ich mir noch vorstellen, dass damit die Flaschen in den Seiten-Halterungen zu fixieren, andernfalls würden diese nämlich stören.

    === Seiten-Halter ===

    Auf beiden Seiten wie erwähnt, gibt es nochmal Halter um Flaschen zu verstauen. 1 Liter Flaschen passen dort definitiv nicht rein. 0,33L sind definitiv kein Problem und ich vermute auch 0,5L passen noch so gerade.

    === Fazit ===

    Ein erstes Fazit nach wenigen Wochen im Einsatz. Ich bin bisher nur positiv vom Rucksack überrascht. Jedes mal wenn man denkt man hat keinen Platz mehr und nachschaut. Doch hat man. Das Qualitätsproblem des einen Griffs: Ja mein Gott. Klar sollte es nicht sein, aber bei dem Preis kann ich mich nicht beschweren. Hätte ich es sofort gesehen (und ich dachte eigentlich ich hätte gründlich geschaut, aber genau darauf nicht geachtet), dann hätte ich ihn eventuell umgetauscht aber ich persönlich hab damit kein Problem.

    Wie oben genannt habe ich viele Sachen verstaut die ich immer dabei habe, Notebook, Tablet, sämtliche zugehörige Kabel und vieles mehr. Das sorgt dafür das ich nicht immer alles umpacken muss egal wo ich hinfahre. Ich sehe hier auch einen großen Vorteil wenn man in den Urlaub fährt. Egal ob man Wandern geht oder nur zur Ferienwohnung oder ins Hotel. Man hat alle seine Geräte dabei und kann somit auch nichts vergessen. Der einzige Nachteil: Ist der Rucksack weg ist alles weg. Aber wer nimmt schon zwei Taschen mit damit das nicht passiert? Niemand.

    Das Tragegefühl ist trotz des Gewichtes das der Rucksack stemmen muss sehr angenehm. Bisher habe ich den Rucksack nicht auf lange Strecken genutzt. Hauptsächlich nur wenige hundert Meter zum Auto oder zum Ziel. Im Gegensatz zur AmazonBasics Tasche für DSLRs besteht dieser Rucksack auch nicht aus dem Knarzenden, knisternden, knackenden Material. Er macht keine Geräusche.

    Sollte der Rucksack nur zwischen 1-5 Jahre halten hat er seinen Zweck für diesen Preis mehr als erfüllt, alles darüber hinaus wäre natürlich wünschenswert. Sollten im Nachhinein noch Dinge auffallen, werde ich diese Rezension aktualisieren.
