  1. Swallowed in the Abyss (Demo)
    by Code Red
Very good demo single from technical death/thrash band, Code Red. Also quite political, interesting stuff that modern-day thrashers would enjoy. Still holds that Sadus sound from the debut record as well, cool stuff. Do recommend for those who want some modern tech thrash with its own elements.
  2. Goat At Sunset
    by Petrale
  3. State of Emergency
    by Code Red
    Xenophobia Xenophobia
Intense technical thrash metal with much splash of death metal thrown in. Very political as well, just based on the album cover alone, one could tell. Very awesome lyrics too. Essential for anyone looking for newer tech thrash and wants a more Sadus-esqe sound.
  4. The Curse
    by Bleeding Tomb
    Metal Fight Metal Fight
Fun and new black/speed metal from Finland. A lot of older Bathory influence and some other old-school first-wave black metal thrown in as well; the production and vocals are very reminiscent of first wave black metal as well. Recommended to those wanting something more homemade and underground.
  5. The Poppies Bloom For No King (EP)
    by Panopticon
The Poppies Bloom For No King The Poppies Bloom For No King
Phenomenal EP from one of my favorite bands in the genre. Excellent clash of everything atmospheric, symphonic, and brutally political. The message of the song and knowing my money will be used for a good cause is awesome. To hell with ICE and free Palestine.
  6. Seldom
    by Seldom
Mistress of Black Mistress of Black
One of the darkest and looming doom metal records of the modern-day. The production does absolute dividends as well to give it that distinctly evil sound. Absolutely recommended for anyone wanting more out of the genre.
  7. Bloody War Reigns
    by Ethereal War
Bloody War Reigns Bloody War Reigns
Crazy blend of both black metal and grindcore, along with death metal, deathgrind, and even war metal elements. Encapsulates the pre-2000s extreme metal sound. Would recommend to those wanting something new in the black metal genre.

  8. The Arsonist
    by Sodom
    Witchhunter Witchhunter
Pretty good by-the-basics German thrash and of the best band out of the many that came from Germany during the 80s. Coming back with a newer sound akin to their last with some lasting extreme elements. Recommended for those wanting some of that modern, yet old-school thrash sound.

  11. Interceptor - Metal Death
    by Interceptor
The Sword of Fire The Sword of Fire
This album is if you took Venom and dropped them into the marshes of the Southern US. Nice to see bands bringing back the old and evil sound of black/heavy metal, especially Interceptor with their Southern twist. A huge upgrade from their previous album from last year. Essential for anyone into the older taste of metal.
  12. La Grande Heresie
    by Zeicrydeus
Ten Thousand Spears Atop The Bleeding Mountains Ten Thousand Spears Atop The Bleeding Mountains
Incredibly awesome, newer black metal with cool experimentation with heavy metal and thrash metal influences. Hellenic black metal influences are there as well which is awesome to hear. Some of the best black metal to date. Very much recommended for those who want more from the genre.
  13. La Mort de l'Âme
    by Vespéral
I & II - La Perte de Soi / Brouillard Fantômatique I & II - La Perte de Soi / Brouillard Fantômatique
Awesome newer black metal that keeps the second-wave style from the 90s. Has some punk influence as well, which is a personal favorite feature of mine. Definitely essential to those wanting more from the genre of black metal.
  14. Waking The Dead
    by Ominous Moon
Death Is In The Air Death Is In The Air
Very cool, lo-fi blackened thrash metal with some slower parts to it as well. Very old-school reminiscent with its production and mixing. I would recommend to those wanting more of that old-school, more raw sound to their thrash.

IV - Décombres Fumants IV - Décombres Fumants
A very contagious mix of melodic black metal with blackened crust punk elements thrown in. Very, very catchy riffing and drumming, Overall awesome stuff and I very much recommend this to anyone looking for newer black metal releases.
  18. perdurance
    by convulsing
    endurance endurance
Similar to Convulsing's previous album, another interesting yet intriguing blackened dissonant death metal album... with progressive elements as well. Would recommend to those who are wanting more from the dissodeath genre for sure.
  19. Death is in the Air (Demo)
    by Ominous Moon
Ominous Moon (Demo) Ominous Moon (Demo)
Newer, yet raw black/death metal from the United Kingdom. Has its own brutal sound to it and has a lot of old-school influence intertwined in the music and looks. Very much recommend this demo, along with their debut, Waking the Dead.
  20. Taphonomia Aeternitatis - Gesänge im Leichenlicht der Welt
    by ABIGOR
Halt The Wheel Of Timeless Change Halt The Wheel Of Timeless Change
Over 3 decades of the band, and they're still putting out some of the best black metal to date; reasonably compared to something like Nachthymn from years prior. Absolutely recommended to anyone who is a black metal fiend like myself.
