Girls into Coding(GIC)  is a not-for-profit organisation, a Community Interest Company (CIC). We are a mother(Helene) and daughter(Avye, 16) run social enterprise. GIC provides learning opportunities for girls between the ages of 10 and 14. We’ve created workshops and education events to immerse young people in a range of STEM activities. STEM is an educational programme developed to prepare young students for further education in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. STEM also aims to encourage inquiring minds, logical reasoning, and collaboration skills.We are driven to create opportunities to engage girls to consider STEM education and careers through hands-on workshops and events.

<h2> GIRLS INTO CODING 3-DAY BOOTCAMP </h2><h2> At The Microsoft Reactor, London</h2>We are delighted to invite you to our IN-PERSON &quot;Girls Into Coding &quot; 3-DAY BOOTCAMP! It&#x27;s a FREE 3-day event. Choose 1 of our 3 exciting hands-on programmes. Each participant can only book a place on one workshop programme because they will run simultaneously. It is for girls aged 10 to 14. However, the age range may vary depending on the workshop.This is a fantastic opportunity to engage with our hands-on workshops in Coding, Physical computing, Robotics, Engineering, 3D printing, and Making!<h3> *** THIS IS A 3-DAY IN-PERSON BOOTCAMP***</h3><h3> Please ONLY register if your child can attend ALL 3 days</h3>You will be able to choose one of the workshop programmes below, each programme will last 3 days. The programmes will run simultaneously, therefore each participant should only book 1 option.Participants MUST attend and commit to ALL 3 DAYS from DAY 1 in order to be eligible for this Bootcamp.Tickets are limited to 2 maximum per family // Please register the participant only, parents do not need to register.**IF YOU BOOK MORE THAN 1 TICKET PER PARTICIPANT, THE BOOKING WILL BE CANCELLED** Daily start and end times:DAY 1 October 26th: 10am to 4pmDAY 2 October 27th: 10am to 4pmDAY 3 October 28th: 10am to 4pmLunch will not be provided, so we recommend participants bring a packed lunch and snacks<h2>THE HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS</h2>Programme #1:Design and build a robotic creature!Learn how different movements - such as walking, crawling, shuffling - can be achieved using different types of joints. Learn how to build these joints using wooden and plastic mechanisms, motors, and code. Then design your own creature and see your creation come to life through 3D printed, laser-cut, and hand-cut parts. Finally code your creature to move, respond to the environment and talk to each other!Note: This workshop involves the use of cutting tools. Students will only be permitted to use hand tools whilst being supervised on a one-to-one basis. Power tools will only be used by the mentors. Gloves and safety goggles will be provided.Eligible age: 11 to 14Programme #2: Robotic discovery through components, code, and creativityThe girls will discover how different electronic components work together – including sensors, motors, and micro-controllers – get hands-on and learn how to wire them up and bring them to life with code. Then they’ll apply their new skills and use those components to make and program a robot. The girls will also have the opportunity to safely use tools &amp; equipment including drills &amp; soldering irons.Note: Attendees will only be permitted to undertake any drilling &amp; soldering after a health &amp; safety induction and under close one-to-one supervision from an experienced practitioner. Aprons, hair bands, and safety goggles will be provided.Eligible age: 10 to 14Programme #3: An immersive journey into 3D Design &amp; 3D printingThe girls will design and produce 3D Content for a Virtual/Physical “Metropolis” Exhibit.This will see them populate a Game&#x27;s Level in Unity 3D and prepare their models for 3D Printing using their final content.During the 3-day Bootcamp, all Participants will be instructed in important core skills &amp; techniques, through hands-on exploration of the various Digital Design Software packages.They will produce unique 3D pieces they have designed or researched and be well on their way to getting started in 3D design &amp; Printing as well as Content Creation for VR &amp; Games Development.Eligible age: 10 to 14 B﻿eginners are welcome!<h2>CERTIFICATE</h2>﻿A Certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the 3-Day Bootcamp!<h2>TERMS OF PARTICIPATION </h2><h3>Please ONLY register if your child can attend ALL 3 days</h3>Participants MUST attend and commit to ALL 3 DAYS from DAY 1 in order to be eligible for this Bootcamp.Each participant can only choose one programme for the whole duration of the 3-Day BootcampTickets are limited to 2 maximum per family // Please register the participant only, parents do not need to register.Girls must be between 10 and 14 years old. Here are a few measures we have in place to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.We encouraged you to wear a face mask when moving around the venue if you wish to do so.We ask that staff and attendees make use of the sanitising stations provided around the venue.There is no longer a legal requirement for people with Covid-19 to self-isolate. However, if you have any of the main symptoms of Covid-19 (a new and continuous cough, a high temperature, a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell) you are advised to take a test. The public health advice is still to stay at home and avoid contact with other people whilst you are awaiting results.We will continue to monitor the situation, including any Government Guidelines and regulations, and adapt and update where needed to ensure we provide a safe event.
