Because Childhood Can't Wait

Home-Start Clackmannanshire was formed in 1988 by a group of local parents, to provide peer support for local young families.

This has remained at our heart since, as we have grown to meet the needs of local families. Our work is driven by a deep commitment to supporting parents/carers – in their homes and in local communities – in the critical early years of childhood, and beyond.

We are a voluntary organisation that is committed to promoting the welfare of families with at least one child under twelve years of age. The staff and volunteer teams offer regular emotional support, friendship, and practical help to local families facing challenging circumstances. They work within the family home where they help prevent family crises and breakdowns.

We currently offer the following services

  • Home-Visiting Support - Through one of our wonderful volunteers, or our Family Support Workers/Co-Ordinators
  • Early Years Groups - in various locations across the County
  • Enhanced Pre-5 Groups - in various locations across the County, in partnership with Action for Children, NHS, and Clackmannanshire Council
  • Parent/Carer Wellbeing Groups
  • Bumps to Babies - a Perinatal Infant Mental Health support group, for expectant/new mums experiencing or more at risk of experiencing poor mental health during pregnancy and up to their infant turning 2 years old

Our Values

We strive to be there for families when they need us, offering a non-judgmental, strengths based approach, embedded in our values:

  • Choice - for families. Our services are not mandatory. Families choose if they want to engage.
  • Partnership - we work with families, their views and wants shaping their support plans. We also partner and collaborate with wider local and national services and agencies to ensure we reach as many families as possible, and provide the right kind of support, when it is needed.
  • Openness - it is vital for us to be open, honest and encouraging with our families, and our partners.
  • Responsive - Needs change, and so too do our plans. Flexibility is key for our work.

Home-Start UK

Although we are a fully independent charity, we are proud to be part of the Home-Start UK Network. Home-Start’s vision is to shape a country where all children have the best possible start in life. We want to make sure that no parent or family feels alone in the critical task of raising children.

Across our UK-wide federation of Home Starts, our focus is on building compassionate communities of support for families, parents and children.

Led by our passionate movement of Home-Start volunteers, staff and supporters, we will bring our vision to life for families through our new strategic framework – Together With Families. Together we have made four strategic commitments:

  • GROWTH. A collective ambition to reach significantly more families - More parents with young children can access support in a way that works for them
  • VOICE. Home-Start will stand alongside families to make the case for support - More families avoiding crisis as a result of receiving appropriate early support
  • INCLUSION. Home-Start will advance inclusion and equity in all we do - Everyone feels included at Home-Start
  • IMPACT. Local Home-Starts will be stronger together - A thriving, collaborative UK-wide community of high-quality Home-Start provision for families with young children
