WE’RE RAISING $30K FOR OUR 30TH BIRTHDAY!

Public Spaces are the Soul of NYC

Watch our community reflect on the impact of their favorite DT projects:

VIDEO: Design Trust for Public Space community members reflect on their favorite projects across the five boroughs from over the years.

With the Design Trust’s upcoming 30th Anniversary in 2025, we are celebrating three decades of transformative public space design in New York City. Our impact can be felt across the five boroughs—from our first project developing design guidelines for the Brooklyn Public Library system, to reclaiming the High Line as an open public space, and to our recent efforts at removing permitting barriers for hosting events and resources in shared spaces.

Public spaces are the soul of our city. Facing national uncertainty around funding and care for infrastructure and the arts, we remain committed to investing in local communities and fostering vibrant public spaces as imperative venues for cultural, economic, and democratic life. Please, consider supporting our annual appeal starting this Giving Tuesday and join our campaign to raise $30,000 to ensure the next 30 years of necessary public space projects.

Here's how you can take part:

Donate: Send us a birthday present! Your generous donation will directly fund our projects and enable us to continue activating public spaces throughout the city. Every dollar counts, and together, we can ensure a better NYC for all

Follow us: Stay updated on our latest projects, events, and success stories by subscribing to our newsletter and connecting with us on social media.

Spread the word: Share our mission and the impact of your support with your friends, family, and colleagues. Encourage them to join you in making a donation on Giving Tuesday and throughout our annual appeal until Jan. 3, 2025.

ABOUT THE DESIGN TRUST

The Design Trust for Public Space is a non-profit organization that unlocks the potential of New York’s public spaces. Our unique model catalyzes design ideas into action for a more just and equitable city. Founded in 1995 by Andrea Woodner on the tenet that New York City’s cultural and democratic life depends on viable public space, today, the Design Trust is a nationally recognized incubator and thought leader that transforms New York City’s shared civic spaces— streets, plazas, parks, public buildings, transportation, and housing developments — to elevate the role of public space as a driver of long-term equity and social justice globally. Visit our website to learn more.
