Border Crawlers- Where the border meets the wilds

Warning: This is just a draft. ─What are you waiting for? Wake up already old fool. ─Just let him be.─ Crissandra pushed Holtran out of the way. ─What are you getting worked out about? He is just an old man that never made it past Zulot.─ Holtran complained angrily. ─We only brought him along because the guild master insisted. ─Hol, just shut up! This is an important crawl and your yapping is getting on my nerves.─ Rikku dropped down from a tree annoyed. ─What’s all that racket about? Can’t understand you younglings, you should rest when you get the chance.─ Ukbark, the old man, got up lazily. ─If it wasn’t for you and your stump I would be enjoying a drink a the tavern by now.─ Holtran smiled uglily. ─Holtran!─ Crissandra called out ashamed. ─This stump right here boy?─ The man raised his right arm to the youngling’s face, everything after the wrist was missing and a hideous star-shaped scar expanded from it up to the forearm. ─I got it for trying to bite more than I could chew and d...

Eri's Pages Chapter 6

The council had been gathered by Lakin before Punali and Ronte had reached the village. By the time they entered the town hall, Zenit’s Church had already started their speech. Alexei stood in front of the expectant crowd, the leaders of each craft were seated in a circle with the elders listening from the stage at the back of the auditorium. Punali and Ronte entered cutting off the inspired man. ─… you all know that what I’m saying is true. Ether is the root of all evil and that family is at the center of it feeding the weeds that grow in our town.─ Lakin proclaimed. ─Your town?! Where were you when the drought hit the town? When Oscar lost his hand? When Jenty married Amilsa?─ Ronte spoke and a row of people parted to let him pass. ─Actually, where were you last year? Since when did we start hearings without the interested parties present? The crowd began to argue, some for Ronte’s family and others against. However, not a single person dared get in the way of the man walking to th...

Eri's Pages Chapter 5

The huge boulder inside Jakul’s room made it hard for the giant to move around. In the beginning, he had lived inside the house, but it quickly became obvious that a normal humanoid room would not be enough for him. They decided to build a room two-thirds as tall as the house, as big as a small house with rock floors to hold his weight. At first, Jakul was off-put by being left out, but with time he came to love the space, decorated with every little gift the family gave him. Now he felt guilty hiding something from them. On the way back from the tower, Jakul had stayed far from Ronte, even when the lief asked him, Jakul, gave the simplest excuse that he could " I'm tired. " Said the giant. Simple but effective. In spite of the big purple boulder resting on his bed, Jakul felt the weight of the enormous rock tied to his heart. He thought about telling Punali but then decided not to. For him, it looked just like a beautiful purple rock with funny little carvings of waves...

The Blinking Bottle

Allek stood below the downpour at the edge of town. He had his eyes set towards his former lover’s house. Not even the water could stop the intensity of the emotions that had taken control of his heart. There was no time to waste, if he took too long he might lose her forever. As he gave the first step forward a small bell rang behind him. The chime of the bell caught his attention on a deeper level. The man turned around. He did not remember seeing a bar at the edge of town before. There was a strange aura about the place: A neon sign, like nothing he had ever seen, read “ The Blinking Bottle ”. The windows were softly tinted white with a warm amber light illuminating the water droplets. Two thick varnished tree trunks heald the structure in place, ending with two more beams that made the triangle shape of the roof. Below was the sign held in place by a long wooden board. The light from the sign seemed to come from nowhere. It shone with pink, orange, and red tones. Allek began to q...
