Would you like to unlock your potential as a thinker, learner and creator?
The Bush & Us: Stronger Together is a fantastic opportunity for young people from the ages of 12-24 who want to learn creatively and help solve environmnetal problems. The Bush & Us creative program is completely free.
Over 5 months - starting in May and wrapping at the end of September - you (or a group of passionate friends)* will be given the chance to plan, work on and complete a project of your choosing, in your chosen medium, within your framework of success.
*Please consider applying as a group! There is no limit to group size. Groups bring more energy, skills, perspectives and longevity to projects - plus, it's super fun to create and learn with friends. But if you've got the commitment, vision and drive to go it alone, that's totally cool.
__________
The only instruction for your project? Address a sustainabilty/community issue in the Bega Valley.
For example, you could:
- Code an AI chatbot which specialises in the environment of the Bega Valley
- Write a set of songs which unites the community with nature
- Run a sports event-fundraiser for a community cause
- Conduct a historical investigation into the mismanagement of the environment in the Bega Valley and suggest reforms
- Paint a street mural depicting the future you want for the Bega Valley
- Do a scientific study on the importance of fungi to our forest's resilience to fire
- Organise a formal debate about a controversial environmental issue
- Interview First Nations people from the Valley and create a short film about how Old environmental practices are being kept alive
- Run a mini BioBlitz to find all the species living in your favourite nook of the Bega Valley
- Create a 3D model of an ultra-sustainable housing development
Or anything else YOU can imagine....
Remember, you don't have to come up with the idea straight away - we'll help you develop it :)
The Bush & Us team will support you with tutors, experts, funding, resources and spaces to work. Each project will be allocated between $500 and $750, needs dependent.
The project will require a minium commitment from you of two hours a week (we reckon you'll want to do way more, though!). This weekly commitment can be tailored to your schedule, and can happen in range of different spaces. We can collaborate with your school too! Below are a few examples of where we can work together.
