Biography
Dr. Patrick C. Beeman is a dual board-certified addiction medicine physician and Ob/Gyn from Lorain, OH. He is affiliated with multiple facilities around the area including Mercy Regional Medical Center In Lorain, Veranova Health in Middleburg Heights, and Medmark Treatment Centers in Amherst. He received his M.D. from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in 2010. He finished his residency at the Wright State University / Wright Patterson Air Force Base Combined Program in Obstetrics and Gynecology. After serving on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, he returned to Lorain to serve his hometown community. He is the medical director at Medmark Treatment Centers-Amherst, a level 1 opioid treatment program which provides medication assisted treatment, including buprenorphine and methadone, for patients suffering from opiate use disorder. As medical director of the program, he is part of an interdisciplinary team whose goal is helping patients in their recovery. He considers it a special honor to serve patients suffering from addiction, who have often not been treated with the dignity and respect they deserve in their previous interactions within the health care system and is proud to work with a team which treats patients with kindness and without judgment. Dr. Beeman is also the medical director at Veranova Health where he sees patients both for addiction medicine and Ob/Gyn services. Veranova offers virtual visits and interprofessional consults for other clinicians seeking help with their own patients as well. Veranova Health’s approach to care enables Dr. Beeman to practice medicine in a manner that is unique in today’s healthcare environment. The clinicians at Veranova Health do not have to rush through appointments or skip over the conversations necessary for patients to understand what’s going on with their health before they leave the office. Instead, Veranova is all about providing adequate time to listen to patients’ concerns, empowering patients to pursue their health goals as a collaborative partnership, and doing whatever is necessary, whenever possible, to get at the root cause of a particular problem. While firmly rooted in evidence-based medicine and welcoming all who are seeking care, Veranova’s approach is particularly welcoming to and respectful of patients coming from a religious background or who prefer more natural approaches to health care. Dr. Beeman has a particular interest in addressing women’s mental health concerns, providing prenatal care to women with substance use disorders, and the restorative reproductive medicine approach to treating infertility and chronic pelvic pain. Dr. Beeman's other professional activity includes work in bioethics. He is the founder of both InsideTheBoards, an education platform designed to help medical students prepare for their exams; and Ars Longa Media–a health media and creativity company that produces podcasts and other media in the areas of mental health, healthcare, and medical education.
