What is Context Windows, exactly?
Context Windows is an infrequently-updated Substack. It tries to give an impartial (but not unemotional) view of AI topics in the context of their histories and possible futures.

The vast majority of my income comes from my salary at METR. My current policy is to divest from (and remain divested from) companies that my employer might plausibly evaluate or advise. I do have indirect exposure to technology companies through broad-based index funds and through <$25,000 worth of ASML stock. The only other notable non-salary compensation I have received over the last 4 years are small payments from the Horizon Institute for Public Service, IAPS, and METR for work trials, from BERI for reviewing MATS applications, and from the Forecasting Research Institute for participation in LEAP surveys.
