Darien Democrats Join Community

in Celebrating Pride

June 6, 2026

The Darien Democratic Town Committee was proud to participate in Darien Pride on June 6, joining residents, families, community organizations, and local leaders in celebrating inclusion, equality, and the LGBTQIA+ community.

Held on a beautiful early summer day, the event was filled with festive energy. Rainbow colors, music, face painting, activities for children, and smiling families created a welcoming atmosphere that reflected the spirit of community and acceptance that Darien Pride has come to represent.

The DTC Outreach Committee did an outstanding job representing Democrats in Darien and engaging with attendees alongside DTC volunteers and throughout the day. A highlight of the DTC’s participation was the “Hope Has Wings Wall,” an interactive display where community members were invited to write messages on rainbow-colored sticky notes sharing their hopes for Darien, the future, and the world. The wall quickly filled with thoughtful reflections, aspirations for kindness and understanding, and messages celebrating diversity and belonging.

Several Democratic candidates and elected officials spent time speaking with residents and participating in the festivities, including Board of Education candidate Crystal Hill, Judge of Probate candidate Francisco Cardona, and Meredith Tobitsch, candidate for the State House 125th district. State Representative Matt Blumenthal and Senate Majority Leader Bob Duff also joined the celebration and connected with community members throughout the event.

Darien Pride continues to be a powerful reminder that our community is strongest when everyone feels welcomed, valued, and respected. The Darien Democratic Town Committee was honored to be part of a day that celebrated not only pride, but also the shared values of inclusion, dignity, and belonging that help make Darien a vibrant place to live.

We thank Darien Pride, the event organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and all who attended for making the day such a success. We look forward to continuing to support opportunities that bring our community together and celebrate the diversity that enriches our town.

Darien Democrats gathered at Town Hall on May 21 for the Municipal Caucus and Judge of Probate Convention, where members endorsed candidates for the Board of Education, Judge of Probate, and Registrar of Voters.

For the Board of Education, Democrats endorsed Crystal Hill and Peter Orphanos, two longtime advocates for Darien Public Schools with extensive experience in school and community leadership. Hill recently completed a term as Chair of the Council of Darien School Parents (CDSP), while Orphanos brings years of experience serving on the RTM’s Finance & Budget Committee and a distinguished career in public service.

Delegates also endorsed Francisco Cardona for Judge of Probate. An attorney, small business owner, and community volunteer, Cardona brings significant legal experience and a commitment to serving families throughout the Darien-New Canaan Probate District.

For Registrar of Voters, Democrats endorsed incumbent Susan Gray for another term. Gray has served Darien voters with distinction and has also helped train future election officials through Connecticut’s Next Generation Ambassadors Program.

The Darien Democratic Town Committee is proud to support these candidates and looks forward to working with them throughout the 2026 campaign season.

Darien Democrats March in Memorial Day Parade

May 25, 2026

Image

Darien Democrats were proud to participate in Darien’s annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, joining residents from across the community in honoring the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Despite rainy weather early in the morning, the skies cleared in time for the parade, allowing thousands of residents to gather along the Boston Post Road for one of Darien’s most cherished traditions.

Marching alongside veterans, civic organizations, first responders, and community groups, Darien Democrats were honored to take part in a day dedicated to remembrance, gratitude, and national unity. The parade serves as a powerful reminder that Memorial Day is not only a celebration of community, but also a time to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation.

We are grateful to the organizers, volunteers, veterans, and residents who help make this tradition possible each year, and we remember with deep appreciation all those who gave their lives in service to the United States.
