Jane Alden was born and raised in a small Mississippi River Delta community in Arkansas where everyone knew everyone else. After graduating from the University of Arkansas, she taught 7th grade English in Porterville, California, and later moved to Los Angeles to begin a career in health care management. After many lucky circumstances and thanks to wonderful mentors, she became a successful hospital administrator and is presently an executive coach.
Jane and her partner of thirty years live in a small town thirty miles east of metropolitan Los Angeles. Their chocolate lab, Delilah, is the captain of the domestic ship.
Biography
I currently live in the Midwest with my partner of 20 years and with our two doodles, Truffle and Roux. I graduated from college with a BA in both Psychology and Journalism. With over more than 30 years of professional life, I was eager to venture into another phase of adventure.
During my career, I worked with gangs in the 80s, adolescent and child psychiatry in the 90s and crimes against children and human trafficking until 2017. I never expected my career to take me down such dark paths and experiences. The faces of troubled teens and abused children haunted my dreams. Although I worked with amazing professionals in local law enforcement, state police and the FBI; closure and justice were rarely the outcome.
One day, after commuting between home and office, I felt compelled to start writing again. Not case notes or reports, but something more, something different. After my retirement in 2017, I was able to take my thoughts and dreams and put them down on paper. Although this is my first book, I have enjoyed writing for many years. Before I knew it, I had the rough draft of my first novel. My partner encouraged me to keep going, to polish it into something publishable. I have since completed a second book, almost ready for editing, and am working on my third. So here I am, venturing into the world of authorship.
