Did any of those you interviewed not mention an explanation…or perhaps they did get that but didnt understand….The damage would not be elleviated but could possibly have been less severe.
The stories were heart breaking. Many many years ago i was a house visitor in an organisation that had a number of fmaily homes, run by house parents, who didnt work’shifts’, had extra helpers but basically were there for the children in their charge 4/7….so a stable household….I suppose today we would say a foster home, but somehow the breakdown for the kids was less thus less trauma.
Why havent we learnt anything in the past half century?
