Goregrind is a subgenre of grindcore that, as its name suggests, is primarily focused on death, blood, and gore. Much like grindcore, songs are short, abrasive, and loud. Instruments tend to mash together into a wall of sound, and blast beats are commonplace. Vocals are growled or screamed, and often have a “watery” sound due to heavy effects and processing.

Although there is significant overlap with goregrind and deathgrind, the key distinction between the two is the emphasis on technicality and musicianship in the latter. Although the lyrical content is often similar, deathgrind retains its death metal roots with (relatively) longer songs and complex passages. In goregrind, the goal is short, loud, and gory.
