About Jangle Pop

Jangle Pop is a subgenre of pop rock that is indicated by “jangly” guitars (i.e. undistorted, prominent treble) playing 60’s-esque pop riffs. Although it originated from pop music of the late ‘50s and early '60s, the term “Jangle Pop” was not used for this genre until its popularization in the '80s. The name is a reference to a lyric from The Byrdscover of Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man”:

In the jingle jangle morning, I’ll come followin' you
