High Desert Food Collaborative - Our program the High Desert Food Collaborative, as of 2024, consists of 127 local non-profit agencies, feeding agencies, churches, community service providers, health care facilities, recovery programs, homeless shelters, college food pantries, and more. Agencies providing a food program pick up supplemental supplies from High Desert Second Chance Food Bank weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on the dates of service per each agency.

Agencies will pick up supplies to distribute them to clients they serve within their region. Our partners serve throughout the High Desert region and are located in the cities of Barstow through Wrightwood. Partners of the High Desert Food Collaborative work as a network system to better impact the communities they serve.

Student Lunch Kickoff

June 1st, 2026

10am - 1pm

High Desert Second Chance’s Student Lunch Farmers Market reimagines food assistance by placing dignity and choice at the center of service. Instead of receiving pre-packed meals, students and their families are invited to “shop” a farmers market-style setup, selecting fresh produce and staple items that best meet their needs. This approach not only reduces stigma, but also empowers youth to make healthy decisions and engage in the process of feeding their families.Designed to operate during school breaks when access to school meals is limited, the program promotes nutrition, independence, and confidence. By combining access to fresh, high-quality foods with a respectful, choice-based model, the Student Lunch Farmers Market turns food distribution into a meaningful, uplifting experience—demonstrating that how we serve is just as important as what we provide.
