Using our voice to drive change
As the national road safety charity, our goal is simple – keep road safety front and centre when it comes to policy and investment decisions.
We share insights with government bodies like the Transport Select Committee, and work with other road safety organisations such as National Highways, Road Safety Scotland, Transport Focus, and Protect Younger Drivers.
We also contribute and have global influence in road safety discussions as members of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
Our Policies drive change
Our policies turn our charity values into action. From government policy positions to research – internal and external, to IAM RoadSmart calls to action – our policies give a detailed position and actional next steps for us.
IAM RoadSmart Opinion Panel
A selection of IAM RoadSmart members take part in regular surveys with us.
Topics include speed limits, motorcycle air vests, and headlight glare. Our community help us campaign, evolve research and hold discussions with government ministers to drive change.
We have a series of recruitment windows for opinion panel participation – member and non-member. Please keep an eye on this page if you wish to be part of them.
To ensure the panel provides a representative voice, we work with Online95, an independent market research agency to provide valuable evidence and insight into what matters most to you. Online95 follows the UK Market Research Society's code of conduct and guidelines. The Information Commissioners Office (ICO) is the UK's independent authority set up to uphold information rights in the public interest, promoting openness by public bodies and data privacy for individuals. Online95 is registered with the ICO and comply with the principles of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) (EU) 2018.

Our Latest Research Report
Our eleventh Road Safety Report focuses on several key areas of concern to the driving public relating to cost, safety and other road users. We look at personal behaviours and habits to understand how drivers are conducting themselves on the roads and what may be causing them to make unnecessary and sometimes dangerous manoeuvres.
