Find a distressed or injured kitten?
Here's how to estimate age, important care steps, and what to do next. Please keep any aged kitten safe, in a box or carrier, indoors, warm, and separate from pets. Do not seperate from mama cat. 

Intake Policy:
Kittens must be over 8 weeks old and 2 pounds. For kittens under 8 weeks old, continue reading for appropriate next steps. 

0–4 weeks:
Eyes may be closed or opening, unsteady, cannot regulate body temperature. 
•Do NOT feed cow’s milk, bathe, give medications, or remove from mom.
•DO keep warm, quiet, and handle minimally. If no mom, seek a neonatal rescue or veterinary care. 

5–7 weeks:
More mobile, may nibble food, but still too young for us to intake. If sick or injured, seek a veterinarian or rescue experienced with un-weaned/bottle kittens. 

8+ weeks:
Walking steadily, eating on own, regulates body temperature. We can intake at this age, but it's not guaranteed.

Silver Linings of Ohio is a small, volunteer-based 501(c)(3) kitten rescue dedicated to helping kittens that have been injured and/or abandoned. We intake vulnerable kittens, provide medical care, safe placement, and education.

We provide a low-cost spay/neuter clinic for TNR cats, working alongside our community to reduce suffering and improve the lives of cats where they live.
