Status of Women Today: A Persistent Injustice
Women make up half of the global population, contribute two-thirds of the world’s labor, and produce half of the food. Yet, they receive only 10% of the income and own just 1% of the property. These shocking statistics, highlighted in the 1980 UN Report and still relevant today. Women continue to represent 60% of the world’s poorest.
This persistent injustice calls for urgent action and a fairer distribution of wealth.
Why Are We Doing This Session?
In this session, we’ll come together to read and reflect on the Matriarchal Manifesta, a powerful document that calls for a radical rethinking of how we structure our economies and societies. By reading it together, we aim to remind ourselves of the need for systemic change and to reaffirm our commitment to advocating for women’s rights and equality.
This is an opportunity to engage with these important ideas, discuss how we can make a difference, and inspire each other to take action. Join us in reflecting on how we can work towards a future where women have equal access to national wealth and are empowered to create change.
