who is this chick

McKenzie Brown writes songs the way some people write manifestos—only hers come with better hooks and fewer footnotes. An Oak Cliff troubadour peddling heartbreak and rebellion, she wrings soul from Americana like it owes her money. Her music doesn’t ask for your attention—it steals it, sings it back to you, and leaves you a little raw, a little healed, and a lot more honest than before.

Brown got her start playing for hours on a Bishop Arts street corner and has since worked her way into air-conditioned rooms across North Texas. She has performed at Three Links, The Mitchell, Henry’s Majestic, Bishop Exchange, Ferris Wheeler’s, Shady’s Burger Joint, Lakewood Brewing, Patrick Kennedy’s Irish Pub, Penn to Paper, Arts Mission Oak Cliff, Bee Hippy, Far Out Dallas, and more. She currently holds residences at Troy’s in Arlington, Lakewood Brewing and was a member of the inaugural Dallas Sounds busking cohort.

Her latest single “Keepin On” was praised by the Dallas Observer as “funny and refreshingly raw,” with the paper calling it independent songwriting “at its most relatable.” Blending Americana grit, folk confession, and a voice that can pull in a street corner and fill a big room, McKenzie Brown is carving out a sound rooted in Oak Cliff but built to travel.
