There has never been a better portable drone, like the DJI mini 3, with an outstanding ability to capture high-quality photos at a reasonable range.

If you are a drone lover like me or just new to drones and looking for the best drone to buy at a reasonable price, look no further because the DJI Mini 3 is a great option.

Here is a quick review of this drone. I will write about everything you need to know and share my experience flying it for the first time.

Overview of DJI Mini 3 Drone

I was first introduced to the DJI drone series in August 2020 when my sister gifted me the DJI Mini 2 drone as a birthday gift. It was love at first sight, and I practically carried that drone everywhere.

After using the drone for two years, I wanted an upgrade, and my joy knew no bounds when DJI announced it would release its mini three series in 2022. Although I couldn’t get the Mini 3 pro, I quickly got my hands on the Mini 3 when it was released in December 2022.

Buying this drone was a breeze. I ordered it from the DJI website, and it was delivered in a week. The drone is designed to meet the flying needs of beginner and intermediate pilots like me, looking for a portable, easy-to-use option. It is built, and anyone can easily set it up and start flying.

The Mini 3 is highly compatible and lightweight. Its ability to capture aerial footage while creating content is excellent. Its intuitive controls make it ideal for travel, capturing nature shots, or documenting special events. It is also suitable for new aerial photographers.

The DJI Mini 3 is small enough to fit in your hand’s palm or your tiny cross-bag. According to drone experts, it is DJI’s cheapest drone and maintains excellent features.

The Mini 3 is a perfect upgrade from the Mini 2, but it differs slightly from the Mini 3 pro (I will reveal its difference in this review).

Before buying this drone, you should know the three categories of the Mini 3. They are:

1) Drone-only bundle includes the drone, battery, and charging cable.
2) Drone with remote: This includes the drone, battery, remote of choice, and charging cables.
C) Drone Fly More Combo: This includes the drone, three batteries, a battery charging hub, a remote of choice, charging cables, extra props, and a carrying bag.

For pros, the DJI Mini 3 also has the Fly More Plus combo and the regular combo. The difference between the two is the size of the batteries.

However for me, I got the regular Fly More Combo kit. Inside this kit, I got

• The drone
• The DJI RC
• 3x regular batteries
• Battery charging hub
• A pile of extra props and
• The carrying bag/case.

Each item was neatly packed and came with a manual on setting the drone up in the box.

Key Features

1) Design & Weight

The DJI Mini 3 is very light to carry around and identical in design to the Mini 3 Pro. It weighs slightly below 249 grams with the battery inside the drone.

This drone’s wingspan is 14.2 inches, but its wings are 3.5 inches long when folded. It has no internal storage, so you must get a UHS-I microSD card to save images and videos.

2) Battery Life

Both DJI Mini 3 Pro & mini Three share the same type of batteries.

They have two battery versions, the ‘Base’ and the ‘Plus’ batteries.

The difference between these batteries is not much; however, you should know that the base battery provides 38 minutes of flight time, whereas the ‘Plus’ battery offers up to 51 minutes of flight time (in my case, it was 45 minutes).

Both batteries came with my kit, and it was easy to tell the difference because the base battery label indicates that it is 249g compliant, whereas the plus batteries have no such indication. The drone was slightly heavier when I used the plus batteries, weighing a little above 280g.

3) Control pad

The Mini 3 has three control pad options. They include:

• No remote
• The DJI RC-N1
• DJI RC

You can get the Mini 3 without a control pad. This is okay for those with a DJI remote for the Mini 2, the Mavic 3 or any DJI product.

The DJI RC has a 5.5-inch touchscreen with 700-NIT brightness and requires no phone. On the other hand, the DJI RC-N1 is screen-less, requiring you to connect to your phone and use it as its screen.

I like that DJI gives these options, and I’ve used both extensively. However, I prefer the DJI RC because it is better and smaller than the base RC-N1+Phone. I don’t have to worry about inbound notifications disturbing me while the drone is in the air.

I also don’t have to worry about my phone’s battery while using it. If the control pad is well-charged, I can fly the drone as long as possible. Finally, the RC screen is more transparent in sunlight than my phone screen.

4) Camera capabilities

The Mini 3 shares a similar camera to the Mini 3 Pro; however, there is a slight difference. The Mini 3 lacks obstacle avoidance sensors, which are present in the Mini 3 Pro.

The gimbal and camera are the same. They can rotate to capture social-media-friendly vertical video, and they both can shoot in Portrait mode.

While testing this drone, I noticed that the Mini 3 could easily maneuver over obstacles, providing brighter, cleaner colors and a clearer image than the Mini 2.

DJI Mini 3 offers all of the standard photo and video features. The pictures and videos are 12MP for landscape and portrait mode (the Mini 3 Pro shoots at 48MP) and impressive for posting.

The 12MP photos can be captured in raw and JPEG formats, while video can be captured at up to 4K and 30 fps. The camera can also be rotated 90° between landscape and portrait format for photos and videos. You can also take single shots, timed shots, and AEB shots.

The camera also has a 1/1.3-inch sensor, providing a 24mm equivalent focal length alongside a fixed f/1.7 aperture with a focus range between 1m and infinity.

The DJI mini 3 has various shooting modes, which include the;

• Single shot
• Timed
• Auto exposure bracketing
• Panorama sphere
• 180°
• Wide angle
• HDR.

For folks who want more clarity, you can increase the size of the 12MP raw images with Adobe’s Super Resolution in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw. This will bring them to the same level as the shots taken with the Mini 3 Pro.

An excellent feature I found interesting in the Mini 3 was the inclusion of Quickshots. These automated flight patterns allow you to easily capture interesting video footage while the drone is in the air.

The quickshots feature has five options available, and all can be shot horizontally or vertically with the camera set. These five quick shot options include the

• Dronie
• Helix
• Rocket
• Circle
• Boomerang.

The image quality is excellent, considering the small size of the camera and sensor. Its ability to capture images and videos during low-light performance also impressed me. I captured various low-light moments at night without any background noise. This drone isn’t excellent at recording audio, so if you need one to capture audio alongside, you should check out the DJI Mavic 3.

5) Flight time, distance & speed

The Mini 3 offers a flight time of 38 minutes with its base battery but 51 minutes with its plus battery.

However, this hasn’t been so for me because considering various factors, including its default charge level of 25% when ‘Return to Home’ is initiated, flight time was around 25 minutes for the base battery and 43 minutes for the plus battery.

With the mini 3, there are three main flight modes available. They are

• Cine
• Normal
• Sport flight modes.

The Cine flight mode is the slowest. It has a reduced control sensitivity for capturing smoother video footage.

The Normal mode is commonly used for flying, while the Sport is the fastest of the three, with a top speed of 35.8mph.

The Mini 3 has wind resistance up to Level 5 (up to 24 mph) when flying in the Sport mode. However, the wind resistance is less when flying in Cine and normal modes.

The drone has an impressive return-to-home function. If something goes wrong (such as a low battery or dropped signal) while the drone still flies, it can return to its starting point with the return-to-home function.

Alternatives

Before comparing it to some worthy alternatives, the DJI Mini 3 is an intelligent drone with excellent capabilities. However, it has strengths and weaknesses, which you should consider before purchasing.

These strengths and weaknesses include:

Strengths:

• Ultralight: The DJI mini 3 weighs below 250 grams; therefore, it falls into a weight class that exempts it from specific drone regulations in many countries. This makes it easier to travel with and lessens the need for complex permits.
• Excellent image quality: Although the Mini 3 boasts a 12MP camera for both photos & videos, you can still take high-quality shots. Its camera can capture stunning pictures and videos. It also offers features like 4K HDR video and RAW photo capture.
• Portability and Convenience: The Mini 3 is easy to transport and deploy due to its small and lightweight nature. Its foldable design makes it even more convenient for on-the-go use.
• Good Battery Life: The Mini 3 offers a respectable flight time for its size, allowing you to capture extended footage on a single charge.

Weaknesses

• Lower payload capacity: Due to its lightweight design, the Mini 3 can’t carry additional accessories like heavier cameras or sensors.
• It lacks some safety features: Unlike the Mini 3 Pro, the Mini 3 doesn’t have obstacle avoidance sensors. Therefore, you must be extra cautious when flying in tight spaces or around obstacles.

Overall, the DJI Mini 3 is worth investing in. It is an excellent choice for beginner drone pilots, prioritizing portability, ease of use, and image quality.

However, if you want a more extended-range drone, check this alternative below.

Autel Evo Nano+:

The Autel Evo Nano+ is often considered the biggest competitor to the DJI Mini 3.

This drone was released in January 2022, almost a year before the Mini 3. It boasts similar features, like a sub-250 gram weight, excellent image quality with a 1-inch sensor capable of 5.6K video, and a convenient foldable design for portability. Currently, it costs $750 and can be ordered on Amazon.

Pros of Autel Evo Nano+:

• Its image quality is better, especially in low-light conditions, due to the larger sensor.
• It offers a slight bump in video resolution.

Cons:

• It lacks some of DJI’s automated flight modes and software ecosystem, which some users may find more user-friendly.

For me, portability and image quality were critical factors in choosing a drone. The Mini 3 is an easy fit because it is lightweight and easy to carry around.

It has a fantastic 4K camera that allows me to capture breathtaking aerial photos and videos. Its extended battery life of up to 40 minutes provides me enough time to explore and capture various locations during my outings.

Finally,

My upgrade from the DJI Mini 2 to the DJI Mini 3 was good. After reading some reviews on the Mini 3 Pro, I realized that the Mini 3 can produce the same great-quality images, videos, and flying experience as the Mini 3 Pro.

First-time pilots will enjoy flying this drone. The tradeoffs to the Mini 3 Pro are minimal, and it is cost-effective.

While the Mini 3 is a breeze to fly, practicing in a safe and controlled environment is still recommended before going outdoors. Also, check local drone regulations before operating in any new location.

Bybit is one of my favorite crypto exchanges to trade on. It has almost the same user interface and experience as Binance, which, if you know Binance, is an excellent crypto exchange that meets any trader’s trading needs.

Bybit is a user-friendly crypto exchange launched in March 2018 and headquartered in Singapore. It has over 30 million users and is available in over 160 countries, including Nigeria. So, unlike some global crypto exchanges I trade on, I do not need a VPN for Bybit.

Its mobile app has a spotless & intuitive interface, making it easy to navigate every feature, even for beginners. This exchange is designed to meet the trading needs of both beginner and experienced traders. You don’t need to be a professional to trade on the exchange. Bybit provides its users with guides to help them quickly navigate the app and trade.

Using the app was a smooth experience for me. I had to download the app from the Google Play store and sign up. Although signing up was a breeze, Bybit is very heavy on security, so registering for your KYC, 2FA, and authenticator is necessary to get started on the platform. Once this was done, I could easily log in and trade on the platform.

It is worth noting that Bybit has over 620 cryptocurrencies on its exchange. It supports over 20 fiat currencies, including Naira, and has over 850 crypto trading pairs, the most popular being BTC/USDT and ETH/USDT.

One thing that glued me to this exchange was its P2P features. As an amateur crypto trader and content marketer, I get to send and receive money via crypto (USDT). So, anytime I get paid, the P2P feature is a lifesaver because I can easily change it to my local currency (Naira) thanks to the Naira/USDT listing.

In the ‘Buy crypto’ section, Bybit allows you to deposit any crypto you choose by receiving crypto via your wallet address or P2P. Next is the Buy Crypto option, P2P trading option, and deposit fiat option.

Its market section is extensive. You can trade spots and derivatives on the platform. ByBit is famous for its derivatives market, so it is a good option if you want an exchange that is heavy on derivatives trading.

Trading Tools & Fees:

In this section, ByBit has a lot to offer. Users can participate in copy trading, arbitrage trading, margin trading, OTC trading, pre-market trading, and more. Bybit also allows its users to use its ‘Trading bot’ and ‘Trade GPT.’

Users can also trade NFTs, Futures, Options, and Perpetuals.

Bybit’s trading fees depend on whether you place a Maker or Taker order and your VIP level. Bybit has a VIP program that offers lower trading fees based on your 30-day spot trading volume. The higher your volume, the lower your fees.

Although I stan this crypto exchange anytime and any day, it has its weaknesses, and it is worth knowing before you sign up.

Well, the secret is Degen trading. According to a recent survey, over 30% of crypto traders identify as “degens,” and they prefer to prioritise potential gains over calculated trades.

You might be wondering what Degen trading is and how it works. Not to worry, I will be explaining all you need to know about this type of trading and how to be a profitable degen trader.

What is Degen trading & how does it work?

Before explaining what Degen trading is, let’s talk about Degens.

Degens are risk-tolerant individuals who buy into the latest shitcoins or memecoins early enough to cash out big when their prices start mooning.

Degens is short for Degenerates, and they are popular in the Defi (decentralised finance) space.

The name ‘degen’ is short for ‘degenerate.’ This word was an unpleasant term given to individuals in the early 90’s who were known for gambling all their assets, especially those they couldn’t afford to lose.

Today, this word has become famous and taken a new meaning in the crypto space. Individuals involved in degen trading call themselves ‘crypto degens.’

Crypto degens have one goal in mind, which is to make 10 to 1000 times their investment in the shortest time possible. So they buy into any memecoin or shitcoin, which has the potential to surge in price upon launch or when it goes viral.

This type of trading is a sub-niche of Defi trading and is quite popular amongst crypto enthusiasts or communities.

These individuals gravitate towards new crypto projects (which usually have no use case or goal), meme coins, and yield farming opportunities with the potential to generate high returns.

They buy these tokens in large amounts to pump the price, and once the coin starts gaining attention with more buyers swimming in to buy the coin, they immediately dump the coin and make away with the profits.

How it Works

DeFi Degens leverage various DeFi tools to maximise gains. Here are a few standard tactics:

• Yield Farming:

DeFi allows users to lend or stake their crypto holdings in exchange for rewards.

Degens chase the highest yields by rapidly jumping between different DeFi protocols while disregarding whether the project is legit.

• Liquidity Hunting:

DeFi relies on liquidity pools to facilitate trading.

Degens identify new DeFi projects with potentially inflated token prices and become early liquidity providers.

They earn fees on trades within the pool but risk significant losses if the project falters.

To simplify this, look at a realistic example of degens investing and trading.

Tobi decides to double his crypto holdings and make 20x gains in 3 months. He scans through Discord & telegram for new coins with the potential to quadruple in value upon launch to invest in.

He finds some new hotshot coins in the discord communities he is part of. These new crypto projects promise to offer a juicy 50x returns upon launch.

Tobi quickly buys into these project without doing his due diligence or reading the project’s white paper. He invests $500 ($100 each) across 5 of the projects.

Throughout the day, Tobi keeps an eye on more DeFi-focused Discord servers. He finds more tokens to invest in while ignoring their whitepaper, which has sparse details.

Despite the red flags, the potential rewards are too much to ignore. He continues to allocate a small portion of his portfolio to become a holder of the tokens.

By investing a minimum of $100 each in these projects, upon their launch, some do well, surging to 20x their value, while others fall to $0. In total, Tobi makes a total of $10,000. He also counts his losses, pulls out from the trade with his earnings, and repeats the cycle.

Reality Check

While this might sound like an exciting cycle, it is very risky. Degens love to pride themselves as risk-takers (sometimes reckless). This thereby makes this form of crypto trading not suitable for the faint of heart.

Degens often deal with projects with limited track records and potentially flawed functionalities. Investing in such projects is a gamble, and losses can be substantial.

Sometimes, they are susceptible to rug pulls due to their focus on unvetted projects.

Rapid price fluctuations in the DeFi space can lead to impermanent loss for liquidity providers.

Degens chasing high yields may find their initial investment worth less when withdrawing from a pool.

Note: Degen trading often involves trading less established projects.

Most of these projects might not be available on significant CEXs (centralised exchanges) and may only be traded on DEXs (decentralised exchanges).

However, resources like CoinMarketCap Markets Section (which allows traders to search for a specific coin and see a list of DEXs where it’s traded) & CoinGecko (which provides information on DEXs that support various cryptocurrencies) help traders find potential degen coins and DeFi projects to trade.

How to be a profitable degen trader

DeFi Degen trading is very risky, and it is advisable that you only invest what you can afford to lose and prioritise thorough research over pure FOMO.

If you want to be a degen trader, here are some steps to being profitable at it.

• Find Your Degen Den: Immerse yourself in the degen community by joining Discord or Telegram groups like Larva Labs, cryptohub, etc. Follow crypto influencers (with a critical eye!), and stay updated on the latest degen trends. (Note: Be wary of shilling and scams rampant in these spaces).
• Sharpen Your Skills: Don’t just throw money at random projects. Learn about technical analysis (TA) to identify potential price movements and fundamental analysis (FA) to understand project goals and potential.
• Be Critical: Degen trading requires constant monitoring. Be prepared to react quickly to news, market shifts, and community hype.
• Risk Management is Key: Only invest in what you can afford to lose. Degens often use small allocations for high-risk projects — Utilise stop-loss orders to minimise potential losses.

Where to Find Degens:

• Discord Servers: Look for servers dedicated to specific DeFi projects, meme coins, or general degen discussions. Research the server’s reputation before diving in.
• X(Twitter): Crypto Twitter is a hotbed of degen activity. Follow crypto influencers and hashtags like #DeFi, #YieldFarming, and #MemeCoins.
• Telegram Groups: Like Discord, Telegram groups are excellent hubs for degen chatter. However, it is important to search these groups cautiously as scams and shilling are prevalent.

Yellow Card is an excellent exchange for simple p2p trading. It is very beginner-friendly and fast.

However, I wish it had more cryptocurrencies listed on its exchange, more features, and the ability to save crypto on the exchange.

It is an exchange I will highly recommend to any novice starting in the crypto space in Nigeria or Africa. You don’t need Binance or other foreign exchanges. Yellow card is just enough.

On the other hand, Roqqu has more features and unique offerings. This makes it not only great for traders but also for business owners and freelancers who receive their payment in crypto

Step 2: Sign up, create a strong password for your wallet, and do your KYC. Doing this will help you secure your account and open up more abilities to trade higher amounts on the exchange.

Step 3: Once you log into your Roqqu account, you will be assigned a general wallet to deposit your money. You can choose if you want your wallet to be in Naira, Cedis or Euro.

Once you have selected a wallet type, you can deposit your money in that general wallet at no cost. It will reflect once you do so.

Step 4: However, to check out your USDT wallet, click on the wallet section on the app, and you will see all the cryptocurrencies listed on the exchange.

Scroll down and click on Tether USDT. Once you do so, you will immediately see the option to send USDT, receive USDT, or Swap your USDT for another token.

You will also be shown the current price of USDT in your local currency or the currency you selected on the app. You also get to buy or sell your USDT, thanks to the options provided.

If you choose to buy, select the buy option and put in the amount you want to buy. The equivalent of it in USDT will be shown to you.

Note: Roqqu uses the amount in your general wallet to carry out this trade. This means you will have to fund your general wallet to buy USDT.

This also applies to if you want to sell your USDT for fiat on the app.

Step 5: If you want to receive USDT, click on receive USDT. Select your preferred network. You should know that Roqqu is compatible with only TRC-20 & BEP20 USDT.

Once you do so, click on generate wallet address. Roqqu will immediately generate your unique wallet address, which you can send to anyone to receive your funds.

In this article, I will compare two popular Nigerian crypto exchanges, Busha & Roqqu. Here, I will show you their strengths and weaknesses & which is better.

An overview of both exchange

Busha

Busha is a crypto exchange which began operating in Nigeria in 2019 before expanding its crypto operations to Kenya in 2023.

Busha is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, and has gathered over 500,000 users on its exchange.

My first experience with the Busha app was not a pleasant one; however, it was resolved almost immediately. Downloading this app from the Play Store & signing up took some time, but after this was resolved, it was smooth sailing all the way.

While signing up, I was asked to create my password and choose my preferred username and avatar before logging in. After this, I logged in to my account, and I was automatically given a crypto wallet where I could trade and deposit my funds.

Just like every other Nigerian crypto exchange I have used in the past, Busha had a straightforward and user-friendly interface. (Degens would love this interface)

There were no options to use the app in multiple languages. The features on the platform are pretty straightforward, and anyone can easily navigate this exchange.

On the app’s home page are the options to buy and sell crypto, add cash to your voucher via peer to peer cash deposit, send & receive crypto, and earn crypto through staking your USDT OR USDC.

Roqqu is a Nigerian crypto exchange which launched in 2019 and is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. It also has a presence in Ghana.

Within five years, Roqqu has gathered over 1.5 million users on its platform, with over 600,000 daily active users.

The platform is straightforward and user-friendly. After downloading the app from the Google app store, I went straight to sign up on the app. It was a seamless process.

Roqqu takes security very seriously, so I had to complete my KYC requirements, make a strong password, and choose my preferred username. After doing all this, I logged into my account, and I automatically had my crypto wallet where I could quickly deposit my funds.

This crypto exchange has a very simple user interface and allows users to use the app in multiple languages, including in local languages like Igbo, Yoruba & Hausa. Also, the features on the platform are not clustered together, and anyone can easily navigate this exchange.

On its home page, you can see all the cryptocurrencies listed. Roqqu has over 100 cryptocurrencies listed on its platform. Users can easily buy and sell USDT, BTC, ETH and many other cryptocurrencies on the platform.

You should also know that trading on Roqqu comes with minimal cost. To withdraw your crypto assets on the platform comes with a little charge, and this largely depends on how large the crypto amount is and where it will be sent.

Their strengths & weakness

Both Busha and Roqqu are two awesome crypto exchanges. I will refer either of them or both to any crypto trader in Nigeria who wants to trade and save in crypto easily.

However, from my perspective, these have their strengths & weaknesses. Here they are below.

Busha

Strengths

• The mobile app is very functional and user-friendly.
• Busha charges little to no transaction fees when trading on the exchange.
• You can trade a wide range of cryptocurrencies with ease, including memecoins & altcoins.
• Busha’s yield feature is excellent for traders who want to make passive income on their stablecoins by staking it.
• You can buy airtime, data, shopping vouchers & fund your betting wallet on the app.

Weaknesses

• You can only use the app in English.
• Busha only supports three currencies, which are the Naira, KES, and USD. This makes it quite limited compared to Roqqu.
• The exchange is only available in Nigeria & Kenya.
• It has limited features compared to global exchanges like Bybit.
• You can’t trade spots or derivatives on the app.

Roqqu

Strengths

• The mobile app is very clean and user-friendly.
• You can use the app in multiple languages.
• You can send & receive money instantly in global currencies like pounds, euros and dollars apart from Naira & Cedis.
• While trading on the app, the transaction fees are very low.
• Roqqu is big on security, making it a highly secured crypto exchange.
• You can trade a wide range of cryptocurrencies with ease, including memecoins & altcoins.
• The Roqqu savings feature is one of the best tools to make money while saving your crypto.
• You can pay utility bills, take crypto loans, and receive payment for your business instantly.
• You can buy crypto via your credit card or through bank transfers.

Weakness

• Although it supports multiple languages, it is only available in Nigeria & Ghana.
• It has limited features compared to global exchanges like Bybit.
• You can’t trade spots or derivatives on the app.

My opinion

Busha is a good platform for trading, especially for beginners. Its features are similar to that of a digital bank’s features. I guess that is what the creators were aiming for.

On the other hand, Roqqu has more features, which is not only great for traders but also for business owners and freelancers who receive their payment in crypto

Overall, both exchanges were created to meet the trading needs of Nigerian crypto traders, but they lack advanced features like Margin trading, futures trading, spot trading, etc.

Including these features will make them compete at the same level as global crypto exchanges like Binance & Bybit.

So, if you want a simple crypto exchange with less complicated features, you can go with Roqqu. But if you are looking for a simpler exchange that you can use to buy vouchers and fund your betting wallet via crypto, you should go for Busha.

On the 28th of Feb, crypto traders in Nigeria were left in shock as Binance (the world’s most traded crypto exchange) delisted & ended its p2p trading feature for the Naira on its platform.

After this unforeseen event, crypto trading in Nigeria took some significant hits. Various crypto exchanges like Kucoin and Coinbase were also restricted from allowing Nigerians to trade on its platform.

Many Nigerians like myself took to other platforms to easily continue trading crypto.

Among these crypto exchanges were Roqqu and Quidax, which are indigenous crypto exchanges designed to meet the trading needs of Africans, especially Nigerians.

Just like Roqqu, Quidax is very simple and straightforward to use.

To get started on the app, you need to download it from either Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Then, you will be required to sign up & complete your KYC requirements.

You should know that Quidax has over 70 cryptocurrencies listed on its platform. You can easily buy and sell USDT, BTC, ETH and many other cryptocurrencies on the platform.

Users can buy crypto in Naira or Dollars. They can also receive crypto through internal transfers from other Quidax users via their username or by receiving crypto via their wallet address.

Below is the menu bar where you can see Quidax’s main features. There, you have the “Markets” page/feature, which I spoke about earlier.

Next is the “Trade” Feature/section where you can instantly swap two assets — for example, you can swap BTC to USDT or USDT to ETH. You can even swap any fiat currency for crypto and vice versa.

Also within this feature is the “Order book” tool. With this tool, you can trade any cryptocurrency you choose in real-time. However, you should get expert training before using this tool.

Then, there is a “Wallets” feature, which shows you how much you have in your Naira or USD wallet. It also shows you how much crypto you have and the Naira equivalent.

Finally, under the “More” section is the products and services feature, where you can see the savings and price alert options, among others.

This crypto exchange also provides good customer care services to its users. Like Roqqu, Its customer care is not available 24/7, however, you can reach them via email, WhatsApp, or in-app.

It is worth knowing that Quidax has its crypto token called “QDX”. According to Techpoint the launch of QDX marked a first for the African crypto space, and this token offers unique benefits to its buyers. Alongside, Quidax launched the QDX Vault, Quidax’s staking service. With this staking service, users can stake their QDX and earn rewards.

Their strengths & weaknesses

As a crypto trader, I personally like both crypto apps because they have met my needs at different points in time; however, from my perspective, these are their strengths & weaknesses.

Roqqu

Strengths

• You can send & receive money instantly in global currencies like pounds, euros and dollars apart from Naira & Cedis.
• While trading on the app, the transaction fees are very low.

• The Roqqu savings feature is one of the best tools to make money while saving your crypto.
• You can pay utility bills, take crypto loans, and receive payment for your business instantly.
• You can buy crypto via your credit card or through bank transfers.

Weakness

• Although it supports multiple languages, it is only available in Nigeria & Ghana.
• You can’t stake crypto on the platform.
• It has limited features compared to global exchanges like Bybit.
• You can’t trade spots or derivatives on the app.
• It doesn’t have the order book tool for advanced crypto trading.
• Compared to Quidax, it doesn’t have its own native cryptocurrency.

Quidax

Strengths

• The exchange is colourful and very user-friendly.
• While trading on the app, the transaction fees are very low.
• Quidax is a highly secured crypto exchange.
• You can trade a wide range of cryptocurrencies with ease, including meme coins & altcoins
• This crypto exchange is available in 50+ countries, including Ghana.
• Quidax allows you to stake your crypto for rewards on the platform.
• Its order book feature is excellent for real-time crypto advanced trading.
• Quidax has its own native cryptocurrency, QDX, which users can earn rewards from when they trade the token.

Weaknesses

• It only supports Naira & USD as the only fiat currencies to trade on the exchange.
• It doesn’t support multiple languages, just the English Language.
• Its crypto savings feature is not as excellent as that of Roqqu.
• Unlike Roqqu, you can not pay utility bills, take crypto loans, and receive payment for your business instantly on this exchange.
• It also has limited features compared to global exchanges like Bybit.
• You can’t trade spots or derivatives on the exchange.

My opinion

Both crypto exchanges are pretty similar to me. I love how simple it is in navigating the features of both exchanges. However, I feel that they can be better.

Although they were created to meet the trading needs of Nigerian crypto traders, I think they should include the p2p trading feature and other trading features like Margin trading, futures trading, spot trading etc..

These features will make them similar to global exchanges like Binance & Bybit.

For day-to-day crypto trading, I will go with Quidax. However, Roqqu is an excellent crypto exchange for business folks who want to receive payments worldwide, and its savings & loan feature sets it apart from any other Nigerian crypto exchange.

I use both apps simultaneously, which is excellent if you want the best of both exchanges.

Kevin Brady once said, “Inflation destroys savings, impedes planning, and discourages investment. That means less productivity & a lower standard of living.” This is an absolute fact.

The first time I felt inflation’s impact was after Uni when I got my first job.

Getting my first job was like a dream come true. I could finally afford to buy things I always wanted without asking my parents for financial assistance. What an enormous joy it was for me.

Sadly for me, this joy was very short-lived because after I got my first paycheck, unknown to me, the prices of the items I wanted to get had gone up a lot, and I couldn’t afford it all.

Inflation had struck again when I least expected it.

Living in a developing country like Nigeria with a currency (Naira) that experiences constant devaluation against a global currency like the U.S. Dollar is a continuous struggle.

According to Premium Times Nigeria (a reputable news magazine in Nigeria), Nigeria’s Inflation rate grew to about 25.4% in January 2024. This is a 5.9% increase in inflation compared to a 19.4% inflation rate recorded in January 2023.

This puts Nigeria as the sixth African country with the highest inflation rate, according to BusinessdayNG.

With an inflation rate this high, it only makes sense to look for various ways to protect my earnings and savings against constant devaluation. In my little search, I found out about saving in crypto (USDT), and since I began this in 2023, I haven’t found a need to change my mind.

Before I get into how I started saving in crypto, it is essential to know that the crypto industry is highly volatile, and this is why a lot of people shy away from trading crypto.

The cool thing about USDT is that no matter how volatile the crypto market can be, it still maintains its value. So, there are no worries about the value of your USDT dropping to half of what you invested.

A stablecoin like this, which has almost the same characteristics as the U.S. dollar (which is considered as the most potent global currency in the world), provides a very flexible way to save no matter where you are in the world.

Saving in USDT provides stability for your funds, especially when traditional currencies experience volatility, especially during economic uncertainty.

Also, USDT helps to protect your savings against the weakening effects of inflation, primarily when a country’s currency experiences increased printing, thereby subjecting its economy to inflation.
