But Somehow, It Became the Story That Mattered

College is a lot like a Hindi movie.

It makes you laugh, cry, and sometimes bore you with senseless plot points that have nothing to do with the story. And while the location of the theatre or the choice of movie does matter, it all comes down to the people you spend it with. A bunch of seemingly different people packed into one cinema. And as we wait for the end credits to roll, I find myself thinking: Was it worth it?

With only a few days of college remaining, I can’t help but rewind to when I first walked through these gates with a neatly packed checklist of goals. Did everything go according to plan?

Definitely not. But then again — was it ever supposed to?

Time and again, I’m reminded of that proverb:

“If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans.”

If everything had gone according to plan, some of my most endearing encounters, my most life-changing experiences, may never have happened.

I look back and see how small incidents — an unplanned conversation, a mistimed decision — shifted the entire trajectory of my life.

But maybe the better question is this:

How has it left its unique fingerprints in the soft clay of who we are?

As the baton is passed to us and we prepare to step into the world beyond these walls, I can say this: it was nothing like I expected.

I’ve learned — and unlearned — things that may or may not prove useful. I’ve made more foolish mistakes than I can count, misunderstood more than I care to admit, and only sometimes understood after the mistake was made.

But through it all, I’ve come to realize this:

There is a humbling beauty to life.

No matter how high you soar, life — and its quiet, relentless circumstances — will always find a way to ground you. And maybe that’s not a failure. Maybe that’s how we grow.

A Little Wiser, A Lot Grateful

I came in thinking numbers were the ultimate metric for intelligence.

I’m leaving now with the humbling belief that there are different types of intelligence — and they all matter.

My best moments in college came when I was at my lowest. In those times, numbers didn’t matter.

I guess difficulties have a way of pushing you to discover new definitions of normal — reminding you that life won’t always be hunky-dory. But even in the mess, growth is still possible.

My only advice?

Be rigid in your ideals but flexible in your approach to reality.

The world is far from ideal — but it’s also full of possibility. Be ambitious, be bold. Do what hasn’t been done.

Don’t take your teachers too seriously — they’re working from a reality that’s very different from yours. You can write your own.

And above all, remember:

It’s a blessing to work with great people.

So if you’re in the middle of this show — just take it one scene at a time. Take each turn and twist as a part of the plot.

Because trust me,

you’re in for something unforgettable.

Govind Madaan (Secretary Wordsworth Club ‘25)

I am a strong believer in karma. I understand cycle of karma very well; as they say, what goes around comes around, the actions that you take will return to you in one way or another. These energies are always in motion within the universe and after they go through you, they will eventually come back to you. This is akin to how the energy of giving and being there for someone can be said about Mr. Ratan Tata, the famous business magnate. He was a well-respected industrialist, a philanthropist, a charitable man and Chairman of Tata Sons, one of the largest car manufacturing companies; all this did not stop him from possessing a striking modesty. He has always been grounded in the belief that business must go beyond profits to serve the community. Under his leadership, he has demonstrated how acts of kindness, whether through personal charity or large-scale corporate efforts, contribute to personal fulfilment and an understanding of the broader challenges society faces.

The love and giving are not limited to us human beings; they belong to every living creature on earth. The love of Mr. Ratan Tata toward animals is a well-known aspect of his life, particularly his affection for his dogs. He was once invited to receive an extremely prestigious award from England's Prince Charles, and everything was ready and settled. But just 8 hours before the event, Mr. Ratan Tata cancelled his appearance because one of his dogs fell ill. A renowned award was left for an animal. This shows so much humility on Mr. Tata's part and his deep care and love for all living creatures.

At times, miracles happen when we feel that nothing can be done, and we stand helpless in the midst of a crowd. Then, suddenly, someone from nowhere reaches out to help. Sometimes, we are so grateful; other times, God gives us a chance to be that someone for another person. Being part of this process and being in the position to help is, in itself, a blessing one should never miss.

For some people, giving back may seem like a responsibility of charities, while others make a show of it on camera and do the exact opposite off-camera, which I think is unfair. When you pretend to do it versus when you actually do it, the difference is huge, and you can feel it in your heart. It may look simple, but it is not.

Sometimes, before helping others, people hesitate and calculate the profit and loss they might incur. But, just reverse the picture, imagine yourself as the person in need. When we need help, we want people to be compassionate, helpful, and kind. Yet, when it's our turn to be compassionate and helpful, the same standard doesn't seem to apply. Does it?

There is another group of people who think volunteering is someone else's responsibility. They believe NGOs and other organizations are already there to handle it, so why should they make the effort? But a small thought or action on your part can sometimes change someone's life. It can change someone's perspective of an unfair world. It can help someone start thinking positively again. You become that

ray of light, convincing them that goodness in people has not completely vanished.

One day, when you might need assistance, the universal energies will find their way back to you. And even if you feel that it might not come back to you, it's still okay

:

because you have contributed to someone else's steady life.

Mr Ratan Tata always helped those who could never repay or favour him in any way. It gave him a sense of satisfaction. When we help someone without expecting anything in return, that is what we call selfless help. The feeling after we do it is. incomparable. The smile on that person's face, the relaxation of tensed eyebrows, the stillness in their eyes for a moment, and the deep breath they can take in relief, this much of a reward is enough for us to help someone, isn't it?

Giving back is not just about charity, it strengthens communities, inspires others to act, and cultivates personal growth. It teaches humility, shifts perspectives toward gratitude, and helps break the cycle of inequality. By giving selflessly, we create lasting legacies and fulfil our responsibility as global citizens, contributing to a kinder, more connected world. Remember, giving back is always the right option because it touches lives in ways you may never see, and in return, it fills your heart

with a sense of purpose and connection, reminding us that we're all part of

something bigger than ourselves

~ Snehal

Disclaimer:-

Please note that the used image is a visual aid for the article. Give up what?
Give up for how long? Will giving up give me what I want? Will my vision and dream come to me in sleep like a tooth fairy does? Is that why everyone says to give up?

Giving up isn't hard; it's much easier than staying firm, regardless of how many obstacles come my way. Hard work is hard.

Dreaming isn’t hard; what’s hard is working for that dream. Wanting something isn’t hard; it’s as easy as thinking. Working hard for it, shedding blood, sweat, and tears is what’s hard. Quitting is as easy as saying, "I’m not doing it", "I can’t work anymore" or "I’ve tried so hard, yet I still fail". But resilience is a struggle where you say, "So what if I failed this once? I’ll try again," "I failed, but life’s not over. The world didn’t end. I’ll try again!" and even "I won’t give up." These words show optimism and pain. They’re not mere words but a reflection of what I’ve put into reaching where I am and how far I’ve come.

Along the way, throughout the journey, many people gave me multiple excuses to give up and try something else, to find some "real dream." Many came and gave their opinions and still do. Back then, I used to get offended. Why did they have to say stuff like that? It made me so upset and demotivated. But now, I just shrug it off, not because I'm a narcissist, but because I now know they don't know my story, my hardships, or how much effort I've had to put into coming this far. They never did and they never will. The only thing that will matter to them is that they get something to gossip about, spread rumors. My goal-oriented nature was never the problem; the problem was their lack of it. Their lack of passion, their failure to take their own dreams seriously, and then using me as their vent. They put out all their frustration on me.

Why? Because it's easier to blame others than work on ourselves. There are very few people out there who truly know how to accept their own flaws, and they are the only people who can work on those flaws. People who find themselves almost too perfect for this standard are often afraid of looking in the mirror, almost scared that they'll have to face reality. They find strength, confidence, and comfort in demeaning, demotivating, and bullying others. They pass comments and ask others to give up. These people aren't always strangers; sometimes, they're our loved ones, the ones who know how hard life has been for us, yet remain oblivious as if things are only difficult for them. Just because they had a bad day, ours should be too. It's almost as if they can't accept that they're not the only ones feeling that way, so they try to make others feel bad too.

Most people just give up because of these people and circumstances that make them feel like there's no other way but to give up. However, the people who don't give up, regardless of who gives what energy, are the people who have built their walls so high that even a mere rogue like that can't trespass. These are the people even God supports. These people struggle, and "struggle" might look like a small 8-letter word, but only those going through it realize how big and heavy that one word is. Only a resilient person knows how to add commitment and subtract distractions in order to turn that word into success and victory.

Sometimes, all it takes is a little courage, a little strength, and a lot of confidence in ourselves that "I can do this. It's not impossible. So, as long as it's possible, I'm trying." Giving up is for the weak. Strong ones never give up. There's a reason why they're called strong. Resilience is a struggle and a war, not everyone can win, but those who do are the real champions. You can never defeat these people.

This article isn't meant for attaining any goal; it's for all those out there trying to make their paths. Struggling to make their dreams come true. It might look a little tough, but five years from now, when you look back, you'll smile and be proud that you did it.

Just don't give up. Keep fighting!

~ Mumal.S

Disclaimer:-

Please note that the used image is a visual aid for the article.

In every chapter of life, from childhood to Adulthood, the quest to find where you belong - "Among friends, family, and even your romantic partners, till the last day of your life" - seems like never-ending.

Cliques form, crowd shifts, the whole socio-cultural dynamic revolves around YOU/US. This always feels like solving a puzzle. Isn't it? The journey to find yourself becomes more daunting. So, how do we scoop out the space where we feel accepted and understood?

Cliques are the small, exclusive, and closely knitted groups that share the

common interests that you would often find in your college, workplace, or in the communities or in the societies you live in. Perhaps you would be a part of it, knowingly or unknowingly, or perhaps desire to fit in one. However, the one thing you would be missing is authenticity. - "Oh shit!! Why am I pushing so hard to be someone I am not? This self-doubt arises when you push yourself far away from what you truly are and now you are stuck amid your desire and authenticity.

"So, is there no turning back from this?" every individual question himself the same. Yet the journey to find yourself is not only possible but also essential. Remember, the acknowledgment of the conform is just an illusion. It just requires a single step to begin "Safar - e Khudi" (Journey of Selfhood) by embracing the discomfort of this transition, dismantling the façade you’ve created, and reconnecting with the person who YOU truly are. Reclaim your narrative, for it is never too late to align your desires with your true self. The path back may seem daunting, but every step taken toward authenticity is a step toward freedom.

With each step we take toward our authenticity, we realize how the

introverted traits shape our love life. YOU might find yourself struggling to fit your partner into your clique or even stuck amidst, finding yourself in the tension between spending time with friends vs being with them. Sometimes you feel like there’s an unspoken pressure building around to find the "THE ONE" or someone that fits into your vision of college love life. But wait, hold on!! living life according to other’s expectations, which distances you from your authenticity leads only to conflict and unhappiness and is indeed worthless. And as the time passes around you feel like "Yeh jo life hain a life, yeh doosron ki kahaniyon ka bhoot hai". But what we seem is the opposite of what we expect and college love life is somehow rarely perfect, and that’s okay. So as Ved (Ranbir Kapoor in Tamasha)

embraced the message "Apni Kahani ka hero khud ban" and yes!! This lesson applies to relationships and college dating culture/ love life too.

Love may teach us connection, but life also teaches us about exclusion and rejection as well. Dealing with either of them can be devastating, leaving you alone in an infinite void with no soul around. Well, it’s easy to feel hurt when you’re left out of certain groups or with "the one", especially when you feel like everyone around you has found their place. But, it’s important to

realize that exclusion is more about you than the group or others. Now, the next steep slope slides you into the journey of rejection. Although it is a powerful tool for growth that teaches resilience, helping you to gather emotional strength to keep marching forward. What feels like a loss, could lead to a win later.

Remind yourself of your authenticity and place yourselves where you’re truly valued and appreciated for who you truly are.

It’s crucial to remember, that if there too much happening in your life, you just need to let it go off. While dealing with all this around, meaningful connections are all about quality over quantity. It’s important to recognize the immense value of genuine connections. Authentic you, deep-rooted in mutual trust and understanding is all that defines the meaning of connections. Superficial connections, on the other hand rarely provide lasting support and,

therefore, offer short-term validation and fleeting popularity.

Conclusion:

In the journey of Selfhood navigation through cliques, it’s normal to feel lost at first. Finding where you truly belong demands patience, time, and sacrifices, and it’s fine. What matters the most is exploring yourself and recognizing who you truly are and no clique, or crowd defines YOU. Just be confident and believe in yourself and trust the process and eventually

you’ll find the people who respect your authenticity.

Just remember that Dr. Jahangir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan in Dear Zindagi) -

"Tumhare saath hoon,

ya tumhare khilaaf,

iska kya farq padta hai?

Tum khud ke saath ho,

ye zaroori hai."

~ Faham.ali

Disclaimer :-

https://co.pinterest.com/pin/1039557526473697739/

https://co.pinterest.com/pin/1110981801823565772/

Please note that the used image is a visual aid for the article. Connecting with people, making them close virtually even when they are far away physically, making like minded people think that they are not alone, that there are many other people who are constantly facing the same challenges, and making people feel relatable. Every other positive emotion, every other childhood nostalgia is shared on social media. From the fact that which cartoon was loved the most in our childhood to what games we used to play during the games period. People all over the world want to relate to each other; they want to be someone who belongs somewhere.

Social media gives us the chance to meet other people, helps us get to know them more, but somewhere, amidst deciding between several different points of view, we forget what our own view was. It's like searching for people like ourselves so as not to feel alone and intimidated by the world, but when we go on this journey, some part of us gets lost along the way.

Ever had this feeling of being alone amidst the crowd? Ever tried to change your perspective so as to fit into the world of social media?

Social media has FOMO over our lives because of its increasing influence daily. We see others are having their best life, and somehow we feel we should also keep

abreast with such a life when it does not reflect how much we actually live through. When this constant urge is there between people to compete with each other's standards of life. When people do not want to be happy for the sake of being happy, but they want that emotion to show other people how perfectly they are leading their life. In this constant competition of who is the happiest living person, who is the person living his/her life to the fullest, somewhere, people have forgotten where true happiness really lies.

The urge to show someone how perfect the person is, by showing those smiles which hide lots of pain behind them. We tend to forget we are humans, and all sorts of emotions are normal. Having sad days is also as important as having happy days. Happiness is turned into a success emotion. If you are happy, you are leading a perfect life; you are the coolest person in the group, whereas being sad is always seen as a failure. If you are sad, you failed in some way, it could be in any way- socially, emotionally.

People on social media usually highlight their happy moments, the moments when they are proud, confident, and feeling all kinds of positive emotions. But feelings like sadness, loneliness, and anger are the feelings that an individual deals with all alone. These negative emotions, which are very normal to feel as humans, are

something people hide from each other, and so Gen Z and the generations ahead

have learned how to suppress these emotions. No one talks about how important

these emotions are, or how to navigate through these emotions, how to convey your

thoughts without becoming the person who is not so perfect.

With the world connected more than ever, how are people left all alone with these

hard-to-deal-with emotions? Every other person knows how to express happiness, but

the expressions of anger, sadness, or even jealousy are not taught but are told to be

suppressed. As time passes by and we are able to connect with each other in all the

new possible ways, as technology makes us feel more connected, still, just being

connected virtually does not fulfill human emotions. A person needs the physical

presence of a loved one to feel complete, to share all the feelings and emotions with

that person without having the fear of being judged.Social media is a great platform to connect, but it lets us set very high expectations for ourselves, and a few perfectionists among us cannot bear to see the image, the expectation, fall short. Social media profiles are not just mere profiles but are somewhat connected to people's respect and how others view the individual. So maintaining a good profile helps a person think they are living a good life as said by others. And they cannot share the negative emotions for fear of bringing down their profile.

There are networks where people discuss their experiences of conditions related to the mind, share their hardships with others, and help others in times of difficulty. For most, it might be such a protected space where they feel that there are people who genuinely do understand what one has to undergo. Even with all of this awareness, though, remains a fear about disclosing personal matters openly. People have started realizing that they need to disconnect and log out of social media through something called a digital detox. Sometimes, being disconnected from all this clutter is the way we connect with ourselves, learn our actual feelings

better, and we get away from the pressure of meeting the expectations of all those

whom we are trying to keep connected to. Although social media gives us tremendous power to connect, it can also leave us more vulnerable to the pressures of its own. We get so caught up in the pursuit of validation that we lose sight of our goals. But sometimes, stepping back and moving forward is what helps remind us what matters most in the end. Social media should be a connected place where we share and grow, and equally so, give ourselves the space we need to feel our whole range of emotions without the fear of judgement.

~ Snehal Dubey

Have you ever felt scared of the way you sleep while traveling? Have you ever felt scared of going for a morning walk when the sun is still down? Have you ever called your friends/parents/siblings, etc., right when you entered a cab? Have you ever thought of others’ opinions on when your bra strap is showing? Have you ever felt scared of the way people might look at you just because you decided to ditch a jacket over a top? Do you ever think that an accidental touch could lead to you being raped?

Waking up in the morning to the end of the night, multiple thoughts run through a person’s mind. But you know what’s funny? The thoughts a guy has versus the thoughts a girl has are way apart from each other. For instance, if you decide to change your routine and become a 5 AM jogging person, but the sun is still down and the road is empty, guys will find it serene, but girls will find it scary. When a guy is alone on that road, he would be thinking of how peaceful this morning is or how it uplifted his mood and how he should do this more often. While a girl might be thinking, “I’m scared,” “What was that sound?” “I should change the route from tomorrow. It’s eerily quiet here,” “I should get out of this soon.”

Every 16 minutes, a girl is raped. Wait, girl? No, even a child who can’t speak, a third-grade student wanting to share her school fun incidents with her mother, a medical resident wanting to fulfill her dreams, a teenager dreaming and working hard to be in her dream college, a 34-year-old married woman waiting for her kids and husband to come home so she could feed them, and a 63-year-old widowed woman who is not even able to take care of herself in her age. They say she must be wearing seductive clothes, she must have been giving him hints, she must have gone out alone, why was she at home without anyone, why did she go out of her house, why did she talk to him, why didn’t she come home before sunset?

She was wearing seductive clothing? A princess frock, an oversized shirt, her comfy unicorn pajamas, burqa, a dinosaur onesie, a salwar kurta, a saree, a full-sleeve t-shirt and her favorite black jeans, her favorite black one-piece, and a f*cking diaper! Now tell me what her clothes did wrong? You say her clothes must have lured those men. Does a diaper turn on a man? Have your daughter’s, niece’s, or sister’s clothing turned you on? What were you expecting her to wear, a metal guard with the world’s tightest security password known only to her and her parents? What do you expect?

She was out alone at night? What do you expect her to do when she lives alone and is hungry and needs to go get her groceries, her classes ended late and she had to come alone, she had a last-minute meeting in the office where she has been working her ass off? What do you expect her to do, sleep with an empty stomach? Or leave the meeting in the middle? Bunk the classes which were going to help her get into her dream college? Should she stay at home 24/7 and do everything from home? Oh, funny, we are not even safe in our houses. “UP Government official rapes 6-year old Dalit girl at her house,” “Delhi man arrested for allegedly raping 4-year old neighbor,” “A house guest arrested in Ludhiana for raping a 12-year old girl.” How are we safe at our house?

She must have seduced him? How? A 4-year old does not even know how to wear her socks. She does not even know the difference between hot and warm water, cough and cold. And you expect her to seduce a man?!

Until when are you going to blame a woman? Until when are we as a society going to keep failing in saving our women? Until when are we going to deny these things? Until when are we going to organize a candle march? Until when are we going to disgrace a girl who has been raped?

Do you think it’s just rape that breaks a girl? No, it’s not just the rape. It’s also the disgrace, the shameful looks, those harsh words and comments afterward. It’s the thoughts that go endlessly in her mind about how she brought shame to her family’s name.

Have you ever thought about how either a rape victim is either murdered there or falls into depression and then dies? Because even if she chooses to survive, we as a society fail to protect her. We as a society fail to reassure her that it wasn’t her fault. We as a society keep talking about how she was raped once, so now she should be careful around men in her school, coaching, functions, and wear full-sleeve oversized clothes and never go out of the house alone. We are the biggest reminders of her being a victim. We are the biggest reason they fall into depression. We are the reason .

Had we given a core-shattering punishment to other rapists as a warning, they would have thought twice. Had we not neglected a guy being strange to a random girl, we won’t have one more rape. Had we as parents taught our sons to respect women, we would have one less man to be afraid of. Had we as citizens demanded a more secure and tighter security instead of neglecting it, our daughters would be safe.

Until when will we allow fear to dictate our lives? Until when will we not fight for a safer, more just world? Until when?

~ Mumal.S

Disclaimer

https://co.pinterest.com/pin/196399233740011729/

References:

https://www.herzindagi.com/society-culture/kolkata-rape-murder-case-10-days-what-happened-between-august-9-to-192024-article-299874
https://www.hindustantimes.com/cities/chandigarh-news/ludhiana-house-guest-arrested-for-raping-12-year-old-girl-101724259673871.html
https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/delhi-man-arrested-for-allegedly-raping-4-year-old-neighbor-residents-attempt-to-burn-accuseds-house/articleshow/112733413.cms
https://www.ndtv.com/india-news/up-government-official-rapes-6-year-old-dalit-girl-at-her-house-cops-6331415

Please note that the used image is a visual aid for the article.

Isn’t it strange how every little corner of the world is covered in kesariya. Chantings and hailings to lord Ram is everywhere around the world. People from every ethinicity are looking at hindus and people practicing Hinduism with curiousity in their eyes and wondering what such festival is energizing the Indians. Let’s dive a little deeper into the history and look at Ayodhya before lord Ram..

Ayodhya was founded by Manu, the progenitor of mankind. Both the Ramayana and the Mahabharata describe Ayodhya as the capital of the Ikshvaku dynasty of Kosala, including Rama and Dasharatha. Throughout its lifetime, Ram Mandir has seen its fair share of ups and down, from being attacked and destroyed by the first Mughal emperor, Babur, in 1528, in his series of temple raids across northern India to the modern day Hindus fighting in front of jury to be able to protect Ram Mandir from the break free of the cycle of breaking and getting built again, that had been going on for centuries.

After more than two centuries with several milestones amid the spilling of blood, the movement ended up changing the course of Indian politics over the last three decades. On November 9, 2019, a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court unanimously awarded the entire disputed land to the Hindu petitioners for a Ram temple at Ayodhya. It also decided to give land elsewhere for the construction of a mosque.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust was set up and the Shilanyas of the Ram temple was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 5, 2020, in Ayodhya. The temple was inaugurated on January 22, graced by the presence of people from the global community. As the sacred doors open, the presence of diverse guests from various corners of the globe will accentuate the temple’s universal significance. Hindus and well-wishers alike will gather, transcending borders, to witness the culmination of a shared dream. And as our respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji said,” From Kanyakumari to Kshirbhavani, from Koteshwar to Kamakhya, from Jagannath to Kedarnath, Somnath to Kashi Vishwanath, today the entire country is immersed in Lord Ram.”

Today as we see the grand temple which is being built for Ram Lalla who had been “living in the tent” , all we feel is the harmonious symphony of unity. Ram Mandir is not only a majestic architectural marvel but as a living testament to the shared values that bind humanity. In this shared celebration, the threads of unity are tightly woven, forming a tapestry of interconnected relationships that extends far beyond the temple walls.

~ Mumal Solanki

The relationship between human and nature is symbiotic, human impacts on nature and nature affects human. We don’t see it every day but nature affects our lives every single day. Environmental health is a branch of public health. It works with relationships between people and their environments. It is a field that monitors physical, chemical and biological factors that we might not have control over but they impact us.

We all drink water don’t we? We prefer clean drinking water but we take it for granted until we read about some city which had toxically high level of lead in water causing different diseases. Water directly affects our health and wellness which makes it part of environmental health. Just like water another highly affecting example of environmental health is air quality and air pollution. Air pollution can damage crops and trees in a variety of ways. Air quality index and air pollution is directly linked to decrease in happiness and satisfaction with oneself and life. It also decreases lifespan and causes specific diseases. Another example of environmental health is hurricanes, earthquake and typhoons can directly impact human life, living environment and surrounding areas. One of the examples which we all might not know about is neighborhood safety. It is an aspect of environmental health. For example, if we live in an unsafe neighborhood we might not feel safe going outside which means we spend less time outside and more time indoors, which means we get less exercise which affects our health physically and mentally. Unlike diet and exercise environmental health is not something that can be addressed at individual level. It affects our healthy living.

To maintain a healthy life, there are multiple solutions. Replace plastic bottles with reusable water bottles since it impacts food chain which makes it an environmental problem. Reduce use of allergens and improve air quality. Create a stress free zone around house. Walk and pedal whenever it makes sense to maintain a healthy living. Through this all we can understand that environmental health has 7 major concepts: toxicity, exposure, dose, individual susceptibility, risks and benefits, environmental justice, and community resources and action. Environmental health management is something that should be taught in our day to day lives because preventing environmental pollution can save lives of not only ours but also the life of our Mother Nature!!

~Chahat Dia

It’s December again, just like last year, and a year before that, and a year before that.

And I’m left with an open-mouth just like every year, but to be honest this year was one of its kind, the type I never saw coming.

January came with a tide combined with joy as well as hint of downheartedness but I could make do with it. Then came February, pretty mundane again.

And then came March. The tides of happiness took a turn and sorrowful clouds took over. If the December me met the march me, I am pretty sure, me would be astonished to see how well I have learnt to maintain my peace and happiness with my life turned upside down.

Things kept on happening, isn’t that how it is for everyone? It is kinda sad how each and every one of us is dealing with things and still pretending to be totally fine to the outside world. It is kinda sad how people are so busy in their lives that they don’t have time to analyse and find happiness in themselves.

But then came December.

December always feels better than Januarys to me. You ask why? Because it shows that I survived it all. No matter what life threw at me, no matter how hard it got, no matter how many I said I want to give up, I still survived. Isn’t that what we are supposed to do with our lives- find positives even when we are swimming a lake full of negatives.

This year took me by surprise every month sometimes with happy moments and sometimes the most dreadful ones but December reminded me in the end it all ends.

January is few days away now, am I happy about it? Maybe or maybe not. But am I ready for it? Yes, because I know in the end December will come again and yet again, I will survive it all.

Unlike others I don’t expect January to be my resolution month, or my I’ll go to gym month but it is more like bring it on what you got because I for sure know I can deal with it with a smile on my face. January for me is the month that gets me up or keeps me awake till morning to witness that temperature drop with all the fog. But December is the month that tells me the calming winter breeze will always be there, the cold nose the bonfires, just few more small moments will always be there to make do with January and what not.

Yes, I am for the new year, but I am more excited for the next December. Because December reminds me, I survived, I survived it all with a smile on my face and with courage as my armour.

~ Chahat Dia
