Illustrations for an interactive hot dots books about sharks for young readers. 

Candyland was my final BFA illustration project at BYU, completed in the fall of 2014. Growing up never dimmed my love for Candy Land. It was my favorite game as a kid, and since I never really grew up, it’s still one of my favorites.

The Story:

My story borrows loosely from the one on the back of the box. I decided to turn the gingerbread cookie game pieces into the main characters: a pair of siblings that discover a bright golden key next to a magical door in the woods. They unlock it to find the magical world of Candy Land on the other side, but soon discover the door only worked one way: once they’ve entered, they can't go back.

In order to return home, they must journey through the lands to find the other door, which is in King Candy’s castle. There is only one problem: the king and his castle have been missing for over 10 years, and the witch who vanished him does not want anyone to find him again.

The children join up with Mr. Mint and Plumpy to bring back the king and make their way home.
