Summer Sales + Review Roundup
Well, we’re deep into summer! That happened a little too quick for my liking. Some PT-related housekeeping:
Narrascope Keynote
You can now watch the VOD of my Narrascope keynote and Q&A.
Sales
Both Perfect Tides and Perfect Tides: Station to Station are currently 20% off during the Steam summer sale. You can get them bundled for even less.
Perfect Tides: Station to Station is also discounted in the Nintendo store.
Podcasts + Streams
- Post Games ran an extra-long Earliest Game of the Year Awards episode. Lots of great recommendations by a variety of guests, and Perfect Tides: Station to Station is mentioned a whopping 6 times. You (and I) love to see it. The above version is free, but an extended episode is available on Patreon.
- The latest Save Your Game podcast episode includes a deep dive into Perfect Tides: Station to Station. I’ll be sure to give my hearty thanks to Matt and Roses once they’re back from their America 250 performance.
- Jess Morrissette posted the VOD from his full 8-hour playthrough of Perfect Tides. It was fun to catch a few bits of this stream live!
NarraScope, Life Recap
I delivered the Saturday keynote at NarraScope on June 13th. It was a really nice time. There’s something rare and clarifying about speaking to a live audience, getting their reactions in real time, and being able to physically emphasize my points. I talked about the importance of writing as the basis, rather than a modular component, of narrative games. I showed a bit of my early notes and artwork for the PT games and talked about compromises we must make to bring ideas to life. And I made a few other big impassioned statements that might’ve been worthy of Manifesto Jam 2026 had I not already committed them, fatally, to Powerpoint.
This talk should be available as a VOD eventually. A big thanks to the audience for their great questions, to tech master Logan for transcribing those questions, and to NarraScope for having me.
Announcing a pregnancy is an awkward thing for me, so I guess I like to tie this information to a gag or some larger point, or bury it in the third paragraph of a blog post or whatever. But it’s what I’ve been up to while ostensibly resting. I’m 41, and this is one of those little backburner dreams I can no longer put off. She’s due in the fall and is pounding uterus as we speak.
As the body changes, my mind is going. In the past week I’ve been asked point blank about a third game multiple times. I have nothing to report except that I’m thinking. Yes…… Thinking. Like a guy who’s been yelled at online for 24 hours and deleted his social media bios. The summer will be a lot of thinking, and maybe there’ll be the shape of something after that.
I wish you all a restful one!
