Set Fire & Burn
Normal never stood a chance.
Angelica Steel has always believed she was human until the night she caught fire.
Now she works in a nightclub for immortals she doesn’t understand, surrounded by monsters who can all smell exactly what she is: half Demon, half Valkyrie, and unstable enough to burn everything down. Zander Stone, the Gargoyle who claims to be her protector, refuses to let her go even as her powers spiral and her control slips further out of reach.
Even when she calls it captivity.
Even when every instinct tells her to run.
Even when the Demon known as Alatap, the Boogieman himself, claims she belongs in his world instead.
Because in a city ruled by immortal factions, power is protection and fear is currency and Angelica is something no one agrees on except this:
She cannot be left alone.
Not by the Gargoyle who keeps her.
Not by the Demon who wants her.
And not by whatever she’s becoming.

THIS BOOK HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND MORE
Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2024What a ride! This book has everything you need for fans of enemies to lovers and strong female characters. Angelica Steel is a character to root for. And Zander?! My goodness. I found myself so immersed in their story and trying to figure out more about Angelica's background. The book hooks you in right from the beginning and the ending leaves you oh so satisfied! But also, maybe wanting a bit more for one of the side characters, a second book perhaps? ;) But really, it truly was a great read.

Unique and Highly Addictive
Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2026This was a unique read for me and I really enjoyed it! The monster/paranormal elements made it stand out, with demons, gargoyles, valkyries, witches, and more woven into the story.
Angelica was a fantastic FMC. As a rare valkyrie-demon hybrid, she was constantly discovering new things about herself and her powers, which kept me invested in her journey. I also really liked Zander. He could be a bit controlling at times, but his connection with Angelica and the slow-burn romance worked so well for me. When the tension finally broke, it was definitely worth the wait.
I was hooked from the beginning and loved the balance of action, mystery, romance, and spice. The ending took a dark turn and left me wanting more from this world!

A wonderful surprise, and a new followed Author
Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2026Having just read the first book I find myself wanting to read the second. Where to begin? I personally love Urban Fiction. To be honest, I primarily write Urban Fiction. I found the use of underused creature types as inventive, and of course I loved the idea of "Half Bloods". I don't want to go into detail too much, but I do want to say that I absolutely will be following this series, and author.

Dark slow burn open door romance with immortal hotties
Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2026This was a slow burn romance that really paid off! The open door romance was well worth the wait. The build of the relationships between all of the characters was very well done and the sprinkling of comic relief didnt go unnoticed ;) The way the tension built between the characters left me thinking there might be a why choose at the end but nope. I can't wait for the next book!

A dark, sexy world oozing with character
Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2024Set Fire and Burn is a dark, spicy, urban fantasy that hits hard from the very beginning and doesn't let up as it sucks you into a vibrant world of demons, gargoyles, and all manner of paranormal fun. The author does a great job of letting you into this world with the Angelica Steel, and the banter between her and Zander is always a delight. This book is SPICY at times, and doesn't let up on the dark and emotional beats. I personally loved the gargoyles, as those are creatures I don't really see a lot of in these types of stories. Can't wait to read more of this series!

amazing
Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2025I enjoyed this read very much. It was easy to follow and the spice was on point! It had twists and turns I didn’t see coming. The ending felt a little rushed but overall I would highly recommend to my romantasy lovers out there!

Banter, Growth, Communication, and DARK
Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2024The lore in this book is so well thought out, and the dialogue is just *chef's kiss*
The 2 MCs push and pull at each other in delicious slow-burny goodness, and finally when the spice happens, it is SUCH a relief.
HOWEVER, it isn't all sunshine as soon as they realize they're compatible. They still push and pull, fight, bicker, makeup, then fight again. But the COMMUNICATION in it is so good. Xander is frustrating because he seems SO controlling, but they talk it out, and he works on it.
Also, it got DARK real fast, and so close to the end of the book, I almost forgot that it was coming. I kind of wish it had MORE of this darkness, and a little earlier in the book, and that's my only complaint. But I'm not docking any opinion points because of this. It's a balancing act, and Ruth Nalio managed it beautifully.
I want more from this universe, and I want to know how Zombies fit into it...Can't wait for more!!!

I learned that Gargoyles are awesome
Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2024After reading a few business books, this was my first fictional read in a while, and it was very refreshing. As a romance/fantasy, it brings a more unique approach with the introduction of not just demons and witches, but also gargoyles and valkyries to name a few, which I don’t normally read much of when I delve into fantasy. Zander was my favorite character, tough, intelligent, and a man about his business.
I very much enjoyed this story, and I’m praying for a sequel because there is a lot more about this world that I want to read about.
