"It's an underrated novel. I really liked it. It has some good story to keep the reader engaged. And the way it's written, I loved it. It doesn't contain some s**t things like a character's POV. It's perfectly narrated. It's different from other love stories!" ishitasingh2609
"Didn't put it down until I read it all in one go.” Alwyn Donnelly
"Had me addicted from the first chapter and couldn't put it down!” Lozzag

About the authors

I am a twin and have written my first book series "Dark Betrayal" and "Dark Secrets" with my twin sister, Rebecca. For this reason we have used our maiden name "Heap" as our author name. We have always loved to write stories and finally made our dreams a reality by joining forces. We have very busy lives. I have two young boys and work as a solicitor so it has helped to share the writing of the books between us. We have the bit between our teeth and have now finished writing our next labour of love, an epic fantasy trilogy. The first in the series, "The Deadly Reckonings" is out now through Odyssey Books. We feel that fantasy stories still hold truth at their core because they are stories about humanity - our emotions, our struggles, our flaws and our courage.
If you come to read about the animalistic world we have created, you may gather that we are "cat people". We grew up with a lovely little tabby who was an intrinsic part of our childhood. I now have two beautiful, big, ever-hungry male cats called Bert (a grey) and Ernie (a tabby)! My other interests include singing with a community choir and enjoying walks in the countryside near my home.

Rebecca and her twin sister, Victoria, have written their debut novels together in their maiden name. They both live in Bolton, UK, a lovely, friendly town in Lancashire - home to Bolton Wanderers FC and famous people such as Peter Kay, Ian McKellen and Danny Boyle.
Rebecca has always loved to get lost in a book. When they were younger, the twins used to write dramatic stories to each other in old exercise books. They began their first novel typing on an old PC in the school Biology lab waiting for their teacher dad to finish work and take them home. Rebecca's deepest, most fervent wish was always to publish a book, not for the money, but just to give escapism and enjoyment to other people and to leave a legacy for her children.
In between juggling 7 children (plus nearly 20 years of welcoming many foster children) and a supportive but sceptical husband, she finally managed to achieve her dream. Her husband could not quite believe that they finished their suspense duology, which he dubbed, "The Neverending Story". But, if he thought that was it, he was sorely mistaken! The twins have now finished their next labour of love, a fantasy trilogy, featuring a girl who feels like a misfit and, of course, lots of romance!
If you come to read about the animalistic world of Feralis they have created, you may gather that they are 'cat people'. They grew up with a lovely little tabby who was an intrinsic part of their childhood. Now Rebecca has a socially awkward but loving female cat called Maisie, and Victoria has two big, beautiful, ever-hungry male cats called Bert and Ernie!
They send out a fortnightly, chatty newsletter that includes exclusive offers and lots of FREE and discounted books.

Definitely an emotional roller coaster ride
Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2017'Behind the Facade' was one of those books that pulled me in and didn't let go. Full of betrayal, unbelievable and terrifying 'all too real' possibilities. The storyline was brought to life in an intriguing way. The characters ranged from despicable to innocent. Katie was quite feisty. I loved her spunk. Sean, even though he went about exacting revenge in a not so nice way, still had my vote in the why and the how. I truly loved the ending. A great add to your tbr list.

The begining hooked me
Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2021Sum up of the book:
Kate Pearson has a great life till one night she’s kidnapped.
At the mercy of an Irish terrorist she’s terrified for her life. Years later her life after her terrible kidnapping she thinks she’s finally found happiness again till she learns some dark secrets.
Review:
I’m having a hard time figuring out a rating for this book. While I do like some things about it other things I didn’t but it may just be my preference ? I will begin with my likes…. The book started off great and had me hooked from the first chapter. I started off liking Kate, she had real grit while she was kidnapped. After that the book kinda took a turn for me and just seemed a bit all over the place for me and I didn’t really care for Kate after. The ending was ok. I kinda feel like Kate went through a lot and kinda should have had a better ending. Overall I will say I will always support Authors and this is no way means I wouldn’t try another of their books.

POOR....
Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2014Very poor and a no convincing story. Lacking plot. How come police was not able do track Brena's and Angela murderer following the intrigued behind? This book shows nothing concerned with a good policial scheme.

Barbara Tsipouras3 out of 5 starsThere are better books about human trafficking than this
Reviewed in Germany on July 14, 2016This novel had some very good suspenseful parts, an interesting topic (human trafficking) and a strange love story.
But the order in witch the story is told is unnecessarily chaotic. In this case a chronological order would have been the better choice.
The characters left me wondering if anybody coud behave like that and I'm not talking about the head of the trafficking network. He was quite believable.

Catherine Woodall4 out of 5 starsBehind the facade
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 1, 2013This is a book with many twists and turns that kept me reading to the end. Some predictability to the story does not spoil the overall read. Well written and hopefully the authors will continue to develop their writing passion, Possibly with the help of a good editor they will achieve on going success in their literary careers. A good holiday read.

Niknakatarian3 out of 5 starsGreat first book
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 17, 2014This is a complex story about deception, girls being sold as sex slaves, a death, a hostage situation, a business man, and his daughter.
Having given the book three stars I thought the story plot was extremely good, however the style of writing was not quite to my taste. I felt a little confused reading the book as something was missing in the writing, which I think may be due to the fact two sisters co wrote the book and I think each has a different style.
There are many twists and turns to the storyline which makes you want to read more and even though you understand what is happening with the young girls being lured into modelling only to be sold as commodities, you feel there is more yet to come. It is a book you cannot put down.
I think that the talent in the Heap twins who co-wrote this book lies in their concept of storytelling. I would love to see them write separately using their own unique talent.
As a first book it is excellent.
