Increasing Your Market Capacity with the Farm Storage Facility Loan (FSFL)

Monday, August 24
4–5:30 pm

Jewells in Bloom
6802 Crittenden Street, Philadelphia, PA 19119
Cost:  Free
About the event

Learn all about the Farm Storage Facility Loan Program (FSFL), a low-interest loan program to invest in expanding your storage and transportation infrastructure. Designed to help small and mid-sized farm businesses and new farmers, FSFL provides low-interest financing to build or upgrade permanent or portable storage and transportation facilities for agricultural products, including honey, flowers, fruits, vegetables, herbs, and more. Examples of eligible projects could include cold storage for vegetables, storage shelves for honey, and drying equipment for cut herbs. You’ll hear from Jewells in Bloom about their experience using FSFL to finance their walk-in cold storage and tour their flower farm and storage space. Philadelphia County Farm Service Agency Executive Director Nina Berryman will share how farmers can use this program to finance eligible facilities and equipment while keeping their capital on hand to use for any unexpected expenses.
About the host

Jewells in Bloom is an urban flower farm in Northwest Philadelphia run by Courtney Jewell, providing a cut flower CSA and bouquets on her porch "Porchstand", hosting floral workshops, and helping educate everyone about local flowers. Her flowers are growing in three locations: Germantown, St. Thomas Church Community Garden in Flourtown, and East Mount Airy.
