You do much of the scouting for the Roman army. You're an essential part of the team and the army would be lost without you. Despite that, Caesar doesn't trust you in a pitched battle. But fear not! Here at The March of History we value your important contributions. You help keep the lights on!

Auxiliary

You are the standard legionary and the core soldier of the Roman military. A long life of back-breaking hard work and fighting the savage enemies of Rome awaits you. But there are pros to this! You are an integral part of the Roman war machine and Caesar appreciates your contributions. In the end, he will likely even reward you with land (if you survive). You will not receive land from The March of History but you will receive our gratitude!

Munifex

You have the essential role of carrying the Eagle for your legion. You are of incredible symbolic importance to your fellow legionaries and you guard that eagle with your life. You are just as important to the success of The March of History and we would be a shadow of ourselves without you.

Aquilifer

You and your institutional knowledge of the Roman military are the backbone of the Roman army. You command your centuria in battle and, as a Centurion, you suffer disproportionately high rates of casualties. To make up for this you are paid significantly higher than the common soldier! Caesar depends heavily on you and so does The March of History! Your generous contribution will not be forgotten.

Centurion

You are the senior Centurion of your entire legion. You know the workings of a legion inside and out and your expertise helps keep your men alive. However humble your origins you will be granted admission into the Equestrian Order when you retire (if you survive). The March of History will not directly elevate your social class. But it could give you the knowledge of history to pretend you are of a higher social class at an office party. So in a way... aren't we helping to elevate your social status? Either way we are grateful for your support and we couldn't make this podcast into a career without you!

Primus Pilus

You are likely a young aristocrat hand picked by Caesar (though possibly elected by the people) to join his army in Gaul as an officer. You have little to no experience and Caesar's motivations in choosing you are mostly political (sorry). But you will be given a chance in Gaul to learn from the best and gain real experience in war. This may even be the start of a brilliant military career for you! At the very least you will rub shoulders with Julius Caesar. However politically motivated your role as an officer may be, The March of History appreciates your support. Your contributions keep us in business!

Tribunus Militum (Military Tribune)

You are one of Caesar's hand picked senior officers. You will be given great power and responsibility in his army. Don't let your head get too big though. Like the Tribunes, you were mostly selected for this role based on the political advantage you and your family provide Caesar in Rome. Caesar will be very generous to you with the spoils of war. Despite this, some of you will even participate in his assassination! The March of History appreciates your support and we will be very generous in our content creation, just please don't assassinate us too. And in all seriousness, thank you!!!

Legatus (Legate)

You are the richest person in Rome (or at least the richest person in whatever city you live in). Your great wealth was acquired in the most dubious of ways. You have put people's names on death lists to steal their properties and your fire company has refused to put out fires until buildings were sold to you at bargain prices (big yikes). The March of History will turn a blind eye to your shady sources of income and happily say thank you for your generous contributions. Just please don't call the contribution in as a debt and ask us to vote your way in the senate! Our vote is not for sale, Crassus! All jokes aside, your contribution makes a massive impact on this show and you make the possibility of this podcast becoming a full time job a reality.

Marcus Licinius Crassus

Clearly you must be Julius Caesar to be this generous! As Caesar, you are perhaps the greatest Roman General of all time. You are also one of Rome's greatest orators, writers, politicians and yes, one of Rome's greatest lovers too. Your name will live far beyond your death as a name synonymous with Emperor. Cato and his Optimate cronies may hate you but the common people of Rome adore you. Without you there would be no season 1 of The March of History (literally, we'd have no subject).
