Purchase options and add-ons
Divorce changes everything. The routines, the plans, the version of life you thought you’d be living. It ca leave you grieving, questioning, rebuilding - and sometimes all before lunch.
This journal was created for that inbetween space.

About the author

Hi, my name is Esther, owner of Rookie Roo Journals. I’m an artist, and a writer who believes that creativity doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful. I live in the beautiful Quantock Hills in Somerset, where I also have a separate handmade craft business ‘Quantock inspiration’
Life is a little muddier, a little louder (thanks to the animals), and a lot more inspiring than anywhere else I’ve ever been!
Long before I ever thought about publishing books, I was always writing short stories when I was at primary school! I still have my first proper book that I wrote, aged thirteen (ahem – forty years ago) I aim to get that into it’s proper format very soon.
I took the leap into self publishing and I’m now best known for creating pain point journals—guided journals designed to help people slow down, reflect, and work through the things they don’t always have the space or language to face. At the moment, there’s not much to see as I am yet to get them published on Amazon but that will be very, very soon
My journals are honest, gentle, and very human. They’re not about “fixing” yourself or pretending everything is fine. They’re about meeting yourself where you are, asking the questions that matter, and giving yourself permission to feel what you feel. I write them with the belief that growth doesn’t need to be rushed and that even small moments of reflection can make a real difference. They are all something that I have experienced and ridden through myself – so they are definitely from the heart.
Home life is busy, joyful, and occasionally chaotic.
I live with my husband and our daughter, who both keep me grounded and endlessly entertained. Creativity weaves itself through our everyday life, whether that’s through shared stories, messy craft projects, or quiet moments spent together at home. Family has taught me a lot about patience, humour, and seeing the world through different eyes—lessons that inevitably find their way into my writing.
We also share our home with a small menagerie of animals, which adds even more character to daily life. Our horses, dog, cats, and chickens each bring their own energy and personality, and they all play a role in shaping my days. Animals have a wonderful way of pulling you into the present moment, whether that’s through early-morning feeds, muddy boots, or a cat determined to sit on your notebook while you’re trying to write.
The horses, in particular, remind me daily of strength, sensitivity, and trust—qualities I value deeply in both life and creativity. Meanwhile, the smaller animals keep things light, funny, and wonderfully unpredictable. It’s hard to take life too seriously when chickens are involved.
Looking ahead, I hope to continue expanding my published work, particularly in journaling and children’s storytelling. I’m excited by the idea of sharing more stories, exploring new formats, and continuing to grow creatively without losing the joy that started it all. I’m not chasing perfection or big promises—just meaningful work that feels true.
Thank you for being here, for reading my bio, and for taking the time to learn a little about me. Whether you will use one of my journals, are curious about my stories, or simply enjoy creative spaces that feel real and down-to-earth, I’m glad you stopped by.
Wishing you quiet moments, curious thoughts, and the courage to put pen to paper.
