I remember when Chernobyl aired on HBO and at least one critic I read on it was like "It illuminates the uniquely Soviet failures in leadership/honesty/communication in favor of maintaining a front that suggests everything's fine" lol lmao

- Every (deeply human) word of this. Read this full story.A small publisher for speculative fiction and roleplaying games is shuttering after 22 years, and the “final straw,” its founder said, is an influx of AI-generated submissions. 404media.co/bards-and-sage…
- One thing I think we really need to understand and internalize is that, when critics are evaluating games, just as when critics are evaluating films, how many people worked on it, how hard they worked, etc., should not be a factor. We're discussing art, not grading on effort. 1/2
- This Richard Linklater answer, man. hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-n…
- Holy shit, that is absolutely the fucking opposite of what it means.
- actually finding creative solutions to issues like this is very cool and interesting. is anybody's experience of this game actually negatively impacted by the absence of a "cooking animation," or are y'all just looking for stupid shit you can use as an excuse to call devs "lazy"?
00:00 - Games can officially be considered art now that they’ve fulfilled the true test of any art form: serving as right-wing hagiography of Ronald Reagan.
- Replying to @carolynmichelleA great many bad films are still the work of hundreds of skilled craftspeople and artisans who should be proud of the work they did. The same is true of games. If I give a game a negative review, I'm never saying that all the people who worked on it didn't do admirable work.
- Absolutely evil, to destroy such a vast, historical archive of work immediately, giving the people who created it no chance at all to access it or back it up, much less let it remain online for readers to visit in the future. We can’t access the website to backup our years of work. It’s just a landing page now.
- Replying to @McJunegrandNah it’s just a deeply mediocre game (with shitty internal politics of its own).
- Holy shit. This fucking sucks, and was always where Prop 22 was leading.Vons and Albertsons stores in California just laid off every one of their full-time, union delivery drivers, and will replace them with DoorDash gig workers who receive no benefits as a direct result of Prop 22. buff.ly/358CR6Z
- Fuck everyone who's losing their shit because GS gave the game a 7/10, a score which means "good"! Y'all don't want critics, you don't want thoughtful engagement, you want fans to tell you why you're right to like the things you like even when you haven't played those things yet!
