For my rejected cvpr2020 submission, where I’m using a cvpr2019 paper’s method, the reviewer criticizes the cvpr2019 method and suggests using a cvpr2020 paper... For my eccv2020 submission, I’m planning to use an eccv2022 paper just to make sure.

- My long-standing dream coming true: a generative model for 3D human actions. Variable-length SMPL sequences are synthesized with a Transformer-based VAE conditioned on actions.Action-Conditioned 3D Human Motion Synthesis with Transformer VAE pdf: arxiv.org/pdf/2104.05670… abs: arxiv.org/abs/2104.05670 project page: imagine.enpc.fr/~petrovim/acto…
00:00 - Hello worldToday we welcome to @gulvarol as a new researcher at @ImagineEnpc (and congratulate her for her @ELLISforEurope PhD award!)
- I was lucky to share this HDR day with many colleagues and friends 🥰 can’t thank enough to jury members for making space in their busy schedule, their wonderful talks, the insightful questions, and all the kind words. Some cheerful moments attached.Gül Varol is defending her Habilitation today, and she's using it to organize a workshop with an Avengers list of speakers: gulvarol.github.io/hdr/index.html There's a zoom link, hopefully it will work. Starts 9am CET (Live thread on 🦋)

- Why do people complain about thesis writing so much? You finally get to write your honest thoughts (without the worry that reviewers will pick on the limitations of your method), read papers from 1980s, write without vspaces and page limits. It's been stimulating and fun for me.
- Special thanks to @david_picard for the introduction to computer vision crash course for high schoolers, the 16 very-involved mentors (listed on the webpage), the volunteers taking good care of our 42 guests, and the association @FillesEtMaths @femmesetmaths. #ICCV2023#ICCV2023 is organizing a high school outreach event on Wed. Oct. 4th. Those with demos/posters on Wed. please share with them your work and the excitement about our AMAZING community. sites.google.com/view/iccv-2023… Thank you @Michael_J_Black @akanazawa and @gulvarol for organizing!
- Fully agree. Work has been so relaxed post-tenure. And one reason I was not sharing this is not to get bullied on social media :) At the same time, I want to encourage people to consider academia. So here it is.Spotted on Reddit: an ML-adjacent faculty who seems to have a very healthy and relaxed approach to work and life. Why don't we hear about more people like this? reddit.com/r/MachineLearn…
- No jetlag, no flight, no packing for ICCV at home in Paris! It will be a busy but memorable week. You can find me at artificial social intelligence workshop (mon 10:25), 3D content creation workshop (mon 11:55), hands in action workshop (mon 14:10), and WiCV workshop (tue 13:40).
- Finished my 8 cvpr reviews 3 weeks in advance (hooray). 2020 resolution: less last-minute stress.
- It has been a real pleasure working with @MathisPetrovich. With constant positivity and great technical skills came a very productive and enjoyable PhD journey! Consider this my public recommendation, whoever hires him soon is very lucky :)Congratulations to @MathisPetrovich on successfully defending his PhD. This work pioneered the use of transformers for modeling 3d human motion. ACTOR, TEMOS, TEACH, TMR, and more. Great work!! 🎊🥂🎉 Co-advisor: the awesome @gulvarol!
