    📷 Brothers Mohammad and Fadi were reunited in Kalamata, Greece, today. The Syrian teenager survived the deadly capsizing off a ship carrying hundreds of migrants. His older brother came to Greece from the Netherlands to search for the 18-year old.

    Greece aims to send back asylum seekers from Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria and Bangladesh who arrive from Turkey. The government says they are not in danger in Turkey and have no need of protection in Europe.

    The 'Madleen' activist vessel has rescued four migrants after responding to a mayday call from Frontex about a vessel in distress. Franco-Palestinian MEP @RimaHas told us the rescued migrants had jumped in the water to avoid being sent back to Libya.

    📷 Residents of the village of Rudnininkai, Lithuania, protested on Monday (Juy 26) against government plans to set up a new camp to accommodate up to 1,500 migrants. Several dozen people tried to block the road to prevent trucks carrying items for the camp from passing through.

    📷Hundreds of people protested against Italian and European border & migration policy in Rome yesterday. They called for open borders & increased rescue efforts at sea. Migrant aid NGOs organized the protest after a shipwreck off Calabria left at least 65 people dead on Sunday.

    📷 Thousand of migrants, refugees and their allies took to the streets in Naples, Italy, on Saturday and Friday ahead of #WorldRefugeeDay. They were protesting against discrimination and labor exploitation, and for a swift issuing of stay permits to asylum seekers.

    Italian fisherman Vincenzo Luciano was one of the first persons to witness Sunday's migrant shipwreck near Crutone, Italy, which has so far claimed 67 lives. Luciano pulled bodies from the sea. He spoke of his sorrow and guilt that he could not do more.

    Italy's 🇮🇹 government has approved a new decree to overcome legal obstacles to its Albania 🇦🇱 plan for outsourcing #asylum procedures. The decree is effective immediately and defines 'safe' countries in law.

    The Danish government plans to make migrants work full-time jobs if they want to continue receiving state benefits. Announcing the plan on Tuesday the government said it was designed to help migrants assimilate into society.

    📷 These migrants are stuck at the Tunisian-Libyan border. They were forced into the border region by Tunisian forces, and Libyan border guards reportedly won’t let them cross. Now, they are living in a makeshift camp in Ras Ajdir next to the barbed-wire border fence.
