This is so cool - Yasuke is one of the more famous cases from Japanese history and there are tantalizing gaps in the history that would be fun to fill in. I hope it's done respectfully...

I've been using @tan_stack Start for a new project and it's super good. The server functions completely replace the need for TRPC/GraphQL/REST, the middleware is composable and fully typed, and having TSRouter's nice typing and stateful search params is icing on the cake. A+!

I'm really, really, digging GraphQL. Would there be interest if I wrote a mini-book on why it's game changing and how to optimize queries?

If you develop for the web then you're a "real" web developer. The tools you use do not matter, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

We’re now farther away from the release of jQuery (01/06) than the release of jQuery was from the release of JavaScript (09/95)… 👴⌛️💾

For folks that've developed Single Page Apps - how do you deal with users leaving pages open for a *really* long time? Reload every N days? Reload after a deploy? We frequently have users attempt actions many weeks after a feature was removed!

I frequently get accused of “hacking” web sites because someone views source and sees my name on jQuery.

Your regular reminder to run `brew cleanup` - you probably have a huge heap of old builds waiting to be cleaned up if you use homebrew!
Screenshot of running the command `brew cleanup`, saying that 8.1GB of disk space has been saved.

I ported ukiyo-e.org over to @CloudflareDev Workers + R2 (1TB of image hosting) + D1 (for full-text search) recently and I'm super happy with it! Using React Router v7 + React 19, about 11 mil dynamic requests/month, served in under 35ms! Total cost ~$25/month.
Cloudflare panel showing the 24 hour performance of the worker. 440k requests, 11ms CPU time, 35ms wall time, no errors.
