    🎆 The 4th of July is one of the busiest times for animal shelters across the country, including Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. Fireworks can frighten pets and cause them to escape. Don’t let your celebration turn into a search party. Protect your pets this holiday 🐾

    The fireworks have already started. 🎆 Please keep an eye out this week for runaway dogs in your area. Any unsecured door or broken fence can lead to a panicked pet becoming lost. Find more lost and found resources at maricopa.gov/162/Lost-Found….
    Steps to follow when discovering a lost dog, such as checking for microchips, reporting to local authorities, and posting flyers.

    It's #NationalMosquitoControlWeek. Everyone is at risk for mosquito bites, but the risk of severe illness from West Nile virus is higher for adults 60 and older & people with weakened immune systems or chronic health conditions. Prevent mosquito bites: Maricopa.gov/FightTheBite

    Maricopa County has confirmed one new measles case, bringing the county total to 16 cases in 2026. A public exposure location has been identified. Swipe for details.
    A measles exposure at Sky Harbor Airport Terminal 4 on June 17 between 6:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. People who were there during that time should monitor for symptoms through July 8.
    Measles symptoms typically appear 7 to 12 days after exposure but may take up to 21 days. Symptoms include fever, red watery eyes, cough, runny nose, and a rash that begins on the face and spreads down the body. Learn more at maricopa.gov/measles.
