Darkness

persistent winds howl
shrieking, groaning, moaning sighs
the darkness follows

Sea thrift

Sea thrift

sea thrift thrives on rock
flowers tremble in the breeze
summer has arrived

Gladness

Gladness

heralding the day
sound, sight and sweet smells
our senses awake with gladness

Barefoot

barefoot freedom in
shallows of fathomless sea
they run with the waves

longing for tepid
gentleness on skin and soul
but rare this sea’s gift

think of green water
no, turquoise, think of blue
no, sapphire opal indigo

deserted croft house
I look inside the old walls
these were my people

the long stare out
to the wide dark line where the sea
drinks down the sky

a cross, quickly scratched
does not disturb this relic
poised, grey and lichened
