Adrian E. Bracy, MBA, CPA, is an author, leadership and personal coach, consultant, and inspirational speaker. She is also the retired Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Metro St. Louis where she served for nearly 12 years.

After spending 18 years in senior financial management with the National Football League, Bracy transitioned to the non-profit sector to follow her passion—that is, “to inspire and make a difference in the lives of women and girls.” Immediately prior to moving to the YWCA, Bracy held the position of Chief Financial Officer for the Arizona Cardinals. Prior to the Cardinals, she spent more than a decade with the St. Louis Rams. Bracy began her NFL career with the Miami Dolphins/Joe Robbie Stadium in her hometown, Miami, Florida.

In July 2021, after more than 35 years in the corporate and nonprofit worlds, Bracy transitioned to the next chapter in her career, that of entrepreneur, by launching her coaching and consulting firm, Adrian Bracy & Associates, LLC, DBA The Bracy Group. As a coach, consultant, and speaker, her mission is to help women leaders embrace the greatness within as they inspire others to do the same. Her vision is, “All women will achieve their fullest potential.”

As an author, Bracy complements her new career in her book, Halftime: Learn to Pivot as a Leader and Identify Next Step, which fosters leadership skills for women.

Bracy has co-authored several books including, Come To The Table, by The Rooted Sisters; Owning Your G.R.I.T. by Jennifer Bardot & Carrie Burggraf; HERstory: St. Louis Words of Wisdom to My Younger Self, by YWCA Metro St. Louis; and On the RISE, Volume 2, by RISE Collaborative.

Bracy has received numerous awards throughout her career, including: Black Enterprise 50 Most Powerful Blacks in Sports; Black Enterprise 50 Most Powerful Women in Business; St. Louis Business Journal’s Most Influential Business Women; St. Louis American’s Non-Profit Executive of the Year; National Council of Negro Women Legacy; YWCA Leaders of Distinction; Women of Distinction, Missouri Athletic Club; and the Small Business Monthly Top 100 St. Louisans to Know to Succeed in Business.

    To be honest it took me longer than normal to finish Halftime because I would stop and savor the lesson. As a consultant to Athletic Administration and Sports Organizations, I will use this book with clients because Adrian is a pioneer in this space. As a woman of faith, I will share this book to grow others with the walk with God. I read the Kindle version but will definitely buy paperback for myself and others. I hope to hear Adrian speak in the near future.

    I am a coach with a background in HR and leadership development. This book packs more practical career/life advice into every page than any book on leadership I can remember.

    It’s about looking forward and taking action. The author uses examples from her own life to show how reflection, goal-setting, help, staying flexible, and continuous improvement helped her achieve nationally-recognized success. She’s humble and real as she talks about her challenges and finding the courage to follow her dreams. Her message is, “if I can, you can, too.”

    If you are just starting out, this book contains the kind of advice that a successful mentor would share with you. If your career is already underway, its clarity and "aha" teaching moments will help you become your personal best.

    This is not a conventional book “about” leadership. It is a fast-paced career and self-management guide from a true leader who shares wonderful wisdom from her own life experience. I loved it.
