LeRipp started the way most good ideas do, not in a boardroom, but on a bike, somewhere in the mountains, with a couple of friends who didn't want the day to end.
The three of us — Jonas, Hugo and William — came to mountain biking from different backgrounds and different corners of the world, but found ourselves sharing the same passion for riding, travel and discovering places that stay with you long after you’ve left. We built LeRipp alongside the rest of our lives, not because we had to, but because we genuinely love these experiences and wanted to share them with others.
LeRipp was never about starting a company for the sake of it. It was about creating the kind of mountain bike holidays we’d always want to join ourselves.
This is our story.
Two of the founders (Jonas and Hugo) had the conversation in Les Houches, France, after a day at the bike park and a couple of beers. It went from "should we" to "let's do it" in the space of an evening. Jonas had spent years watching the ski touring and heliskiing industry and could see the same thing happening in mountain biking — the rise of guided travel for serious riders who wanted more than a trail map and a shuttle ticket. He had the idea. Hugo had the hospitality background and the trail knowledge. They called William, who was the one most likely to ask the hard questions about whether it would actually work. He liked th idea so much that they decided he should also come on board.
Then COVID hit. A travel company with nowhere to travel. The timing was, as William still finds funny, spectacularly bad. But the gap gave them time to do the groundwork properly — the destinations, the partners, the logistics, the details. By the time restrictions lifted they were ready, and the first trip ran to Finale Ligure.
It went surprisingly well. Hugo knew Finale better than almost anywhere, and they made sure nothing was left to chance. Almost nothing, anyway. On one of those early trips, a miscommunication with an accommodation partner left them without a bed for a night. They sorted it — guests never knew — but the lesson landed. Confirm everything and assume nothing. Leave the unknown for the adventure, not the logistics.
And that principle still sits at the centre of how LeRipp runs today.
Jonas grew up in Gothenburg, Sweden, and left at eighteen for a ski season in Canada. That was in 2008, and he never really stopped moving. After living and working in places like Japan, the UK, Hong Kong and Chamonix, he eventually settled in Engelberg with his wife, daughter and husky, Flash, where he now leads LeRipp as CEO.
Mountain biking entered the picture in 2015 when the ski season in Chamonix ended. Jonas and Hugo bought two second-hand bikes from a local shop, and what started as a summer pastime quickly became a passion that would shape LeRipp.Ask Jonas about his favourite ride and you’ll get several answers: a classic day around Chamonix and Courmayeur, a Finale Ligure ride finishing with a swim and gelato by the beach, or the long adventure over Surenen Pass in Engelberg.
For him, though, the best trips are about more than the trails. They’re about the small details that make people feel looked after, from remembering a guest’s favourite snack to celebrating a birthday on the road.

William grew up in the countryside north of Stockholm and now lives in London. He met Jonas in Australia as a teenager while they were both on exchange, and a friendship that started there eventually became LeRipp.
Before joining the business, William spent most of his career as a management consultant, working across different industries and countries. What he enjoyed most wasn’t solving business problems, but meeting people, discovering new places, and seeing how the best connections are often made outside your comfort zone.
At LeRipp, William looks after finance and strategy, with a particular focus on developing the corporate escapes side of the business.
His favourite ride is Col de Possette above Le Tour in Chamonix, where the autumn colours, perfect light and good company all came together. The same attention to detail shapes how he thinks about every trip. He wants guests to arrive knowing everything has been taken care of, so they can simply enjoy the experience.

Hugo grew up in Gothenburg and now lives in Engelberg. Like Jonas, he discovered mountain biking in Chamonix in 2015, when the two bought their first second-hand bikes together. What started as a summer hobby quickly became a passion.
Before LeRipp, Hugo spent years working in hotels while guiding mountain bike and hiking trips across Europe. Today, alongside running Ski Lodge Engelberg, he leads Customer Experience and Product Development at LeRipp. From the trails and local culture to the food, history and flow of each itinerary, he’s constantly refining what makes a trip feel special. More recently, he’s also been developing LeRipp’s road cycling adventures.
One ride that has stayed with him is the descent from Surenen Pass above Engelberg, which offers nearly 1,800 vertical metres of trail ending with a boat ride across the lake. But when it comes to destinations, North Macedonia and Albania stand out most, combining outstanding riding with rich culture, warm hospitality and fascinating history.
For Hugo, the best trips strike the perfect balance between incredible riding and an unforgettable travel experience.

Between us we have a ski lodge to run, a consulting career, families and a life in the mountains; and we build LeRipp around all of it because we want to, not because we have to. That's deliberate. It means every trip we run is one we genuinely believe in, held to the standard we would want as guests ourselves. We are not selling something we stepped away from. We are sharing something we still do, and care about, ourselves.
The trips are built for riders who want more than just the trail. People who care about where they eat after the ride, what the place feels like and what they learn about it. Passionate riders, most of them intermediate or stronger, who want to be looked after without feeling like they are on a package holiday. The kind of people who come back year after year.
If that sounds like you, get in touch.
