To help stop scams before they start, we’re rolling out our financial services verification program to every member state in the European Union and European Economic Area. This combines advanced detection systems with identity checks, and has already blocked over 1.6 billion policy-violating ads in the EU last year. Wander around our Mountain View, CA campus and you're bound to spot one of our iconic GBikes. The bicycles — brightly painted in Google’s four colors — have been a fixture of our Bay Area offices since they first rolled onto the scene in 2007. In 2025, Googlers took 2.5 million trips on GBikes, covering over 1.1 million miles. This year, we introduced the biggest design upgrade to the GBike since 2012. This new model retains the original look, but we’ve packed it with new tech to make cruising across campus a breeze, like a lightweight aluminum frame, three-speed gear shifts and a grease-free belt drive to keep office outfits looking sharp. Katia, a People Consultant in HR Switzerland, spends her days supporting Googlers, managers and leaders. “Whether I’m coaching a new leader or helping someone navigate their benefits, I guide Googlers through the moments that matter most,” she says. Katia leaned into a "pivot mentality," moving from Sales and Tech Management to Staffing Operations and Internal Talent Mobility to HR. “I poured my heart into each role, supported by managers who saw my potential and pushed me to expand my boundaries,” she explains. “Eventually, it clicked: Working with people and organizations is the perfect intersection of what I love and where I can add the most value.” Each past role provided the transferable skills that got her to where she is today. “My specialty is ‘connecting the dots’ — translating complex things into simple pictures,” she realized. “In sales, I translated advertising technology into business growth; now, I translate ‘people stuff’ into leadership decisions.” What’s the skill that’s helped you navigate your own career pivots? Harman, a Software Engineer on our AI Infrastructure team in Seattle, went from being a master’s student in New York to working as part of the backbone of Google’s AI. "I work in AI Infrastructure, focusing on the software(s) that run the supply chain for Google's data centers," he explains. "It's fast-paced, and I love seeing how the systems we build directly support Google's massive AI capabilities." Adaptability and communication are key parts of his role. "Being able to pivot, learn quickly and scale systems on the fly is a daily requirement," he says. "You're constantly collaborating. Good software is only built when the requirements are crystal clear, making effective listening one of the most crucial skills you can have as an engineer." Harman's top tips for those interested in similar roles: 1. “Master the CS fundamentals: Get your core concepts down before worrying about the wildly complex stuff.” 2. “Build your network: Your community will support you and open doors you didn't even know existed.” 3. “If I can do it, you can do it: The biggest hurdle is often just taking that first step.” Explore open roles at our Seattle office → https://goo.gle/4e7f4sp
