Before there were many, there were las primeras.
The ones who walked into rooms where no one looked like them.
The ones who were told “no” and still found a way to say sí se puede.
From the courtroom to space, from literature to leadership, these Latinas didn’t just break barriers, they changed the story. Sonia Sotomayor, Ellen Ochoa, Gabriela Mistral, Rita Moreno, Isabel Perón, and Antonia Novello each became the first in their field, opening doors that had been closed for generations. (Not in the image but someone we hold in high regard, the courageous Dolores Huerta).
Because of them, we’re reminded what’s possible when we lead with resilience, push for equality, and invest in our growth. Their journeys show us the power of community, how one woman’s courage
can create opportunity for so many others. Ellas abrieron camino para todas nosotras.
This Women’s History Month, we honor the women who went first, para que nosotras nunca tengamos que hacerlo solas, and commit to continuing that legacy by supporting, uplifting, and empowering each other every step of the way. 💛
Which of these mujeres inspires you the most?
