That’s why we’ve updated our Product Footprint App, making it easier than ever to explore the environmental impact of more than 12,000 smartphones, tablets, and laptops available on refurbed. 📱💻 Developed together with Fraunhofer Austria and independently verified by GutCert according to ISO 14040/44, our methodology provides detailed insights into the environmental benefits of choosing refurbished over new. The updated database now includes expanded and refreshed data on: ♻️ CO₂ savings ♻️ E-waste reduction ♻️ Virtual water savings ♻️ Critical raw material savings (smartphones) ♻️ Conflict mineral savings (smartphones) Using technical product data such as battery capacity, storage size, production year, and screen size, the model calculates the environmental savings generated by extending a device’s lifetime through professional refurbishment. Holiday mode apparently also means screen break mode ✨ In our latest survey across Europe*, two things stood out: 💚 67% of people want to spend less time on screens during their holidays. 💚 And 76% said they could imagine going a full day completely offline. For us, that is an interesting shift. Last week, we hosted the 9th Circular Economy Open Space Meetup and welcomed around 50 people from across industries, academia and the wider circular economy community to our office. ♻️🤝 After a few opening words from our public affairs lead Paul Anton Ploberger, the evening quickly turned into what makes these meetups so valuable: honest conversations, practical experiences and new ideas shaped by the participants themselves. What stood out most was the willingness to contribute openly: 💚 discussing real operational challenges 💚 sharing hands-on learnings 💚 questioning assumptions 💚 bringing together different industries and perspectives One of the workshop sessions focused on a key challenge for the circular economy: how to bring more used devices back into the loop so they can be refurbished and used again. 📱 It's a topic that's closely connected to our mission at refurbed and to how we think about measuring our environmental impact.
