About us
Studybugs is the multi-agency platform for children's welfare in the UK. We work with schools, Multi-Academy Trusts, local authorities, public services and parents to improve children's health, safeguarding and school attendance across the UK. Our mission is to ensure every child’s welfare. Studybugs has been built with backing from the Department for Education, the NHS, UK Research and Innovation and the Open Data Institute among others, and is used by a rapidly growing list of local authorities, more than 4,000 schools and several hundred thousand parents. Our passion is improving school attendance. In the current attendance crisis, we are working hard to help schools, trusts and LAs with their attendance strategy. This includes accurately recording and monitoring attendance, making it easier and quicker to understand and act on data, meeting statutory obligations and putting the DfE's Working Together guidance into practice. We loved hearing this fantastic feedback from Orleans Park School: “With the number of apps and platforms we now use within education, there are so many systems to learn and integrate, but Studybugs has by far been the easiest platform to implement and use. From the initial sales call, through the training and installation process, everything has been seamless and faultless” That’s exactly what we aim for - something simple to set up, easy to use, and one less thing for schools to worry about.

Some wise words and delicious insight (pun very much intended) from our very own Amelia Peirse.
Rule 1: don't mess with a good thing. Rule 2: sometimes breaking rule 1 is the best decision you ever make. 🥐 This morning I bought a cruffin. 🥐 🧁 (A croissant and a muffin had a baby, and it was delicious.) The best attendance support I see in schools isn't one thing done perfectly — it's two things working together brilliantly: ✅ The relational, human knowledge staff have about every child and family ✅ The systems and processes that make sure no one slips through the net Neither is enough on its own. Together? Genuinely powerful. This week I've been working with schools on exactly that - helping them find the right voice to communicate with parents at every stage of their child's attendance journey (whilst saving them time to follow up personally where needed). Because a first absence message shouldn't sound the same as a persistent absence conversation. Getting the right tone at the right time is what turns a notification into a connection. That's the cruffin moment. Two good things, combined thoughtfully. Full disclosure: this is a real cruffin. Not an AI-generated cruffin. No cruffins were harmed in the making of this post - except this one, which I ate. Immediately. 😋 No regrets.

What are Ofsted really looking for when it comes to attendance? Not just numbers - the story behind them. They want to see schools analysing data, understanding causes, and taking meaningful action. Small changes can lead to big improvements. Find out more by reading our blog post below: https://lnkd.in/dpggcwQy

A recent poll by Tes Institute has revealed that most primary and secondary school teachers say they don’t feel confident or properly prepared to support students experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA). At Studybugs, we’ve created a practical guide to help schools get to grips with the basics of EBSA, along with further resources that explore the detail, including example return-to-school plans. You’ll find everything in our blog post: https://lnkd.in/d8HA-ZsH
