The new open-source flagship from is now in the model selector. Notable bits: 1M context that holds up in practice, open-source SOTA on Code Arena overall, and noticeably better long-horizon stability for agentic runs (lots of tool calls, large state, etc).
Closed-source has had the lead on long tasks for a while. This is the first open-source one where we'd actually trust it on a multi-hour run.

I was cleaning up a service file this afternoon. Extracting a helper function, renaming a couple of variables, the kind of refactor where you already know what the end result should look like but it's still twenty minutes of mechanical typing to get there.
Typed the helper signature, and NEXT filled in the entire body in one go. About 15 lines: parameter checks, the actual logic, the return shape. I read through it, looked right, hit Tab. Done.
It's not just completing the line you're on. NEXT seems to read the rest of the file and predict the whole block in your style, not one line at a time. The variable names lined up with the rest of the file. The error handling matched my existing pattern. The return shape matched what the callers expected. First try.
The multi-line suggestions can be a bit eager sometimes (you type one line and it offers ten), but Esc plus a few more keystrokes narrows it down. Took a few minutes to stop fighting it.
Shortcuts for anyone who wants to try: Tab to accept, Esc to dismiss, ⌥P on Mac or Alt+P on Windows to manually trigger a suggestion when nothing appears.
