- Last night in East Oakland CHP officers shot and killed Eric Salgado during a traffic stop on the 9600 block of Cherry St. His family is out here mourning. Police have not released much information about the incident.
- The #SayHerName Nia Wilson march in Oakland, well over 1000 strong, feels like a mourning procession combined with a militant anti-racist rally. On Telegraph headed toward downtown.

00:00 - This student organized and led #GeorgeFloydProtests in Oakland is probably the largest rally yet. I attempted to capture the entire march in a time lapse video but my phone stopped filming at about the halfway point. You can figure how massive this turnout is.
00:00 - Breaking: Oakland Police Chief Armstrong said at a press conference today that his claims that protesters were preparing Molotov cocktails at last year’s 6/1 George Floyd protest were wrong. Police weren’t justified in using tear gas and rubber bullets on protesters.
00:00 - An absolute bombshell. Alameda County prosecutors allegedly kept Black people and Jews off juries in murder cases, believing they would not convict if the death penalty was in play. Now dozens of capital cases from prior decades must be reviewed.

- California Gov. Gavin Newsom just signed #AB32. The state's ban on private prisons is now officially law. It applies to all private detention centers, including those used by ICE to hold immigrants facing deportation. Assemblymember Rob Bonta just issued a statement (see below)
- The claim that "white infiltrators" or "white anarchists" caused Oakland's riot last night doesn't fit what I saw. I witnessed thousands of mostly young people, a rainbow of racial diversity, show up to confront police. After police gassed the crowd, looting and fires began.
- Replying to @DarwinBondGrahaNorma Rodriguez, a friend of Salgado’s family, had some words to say at his vigil.
00:00 - I’m at Lake Merritt today. The red tide fish kill continued last night. O2 levels plummeted and tens of thousands (likely more) sardines perished, in addition to hundred of striped bass, rays, and more.
