- Starmer and Reeves talked a lot about growth through investment and delivered niether. But this could be an important statement of intent. Burnham adviser Jim O'Neill calls for billions of pounds in extra borrowing for infrastructure
- The problem with a coronation is that there is no opportunity for collective discussion and debate before we move forward. The danger then is people invest their own beliefs in the new leader, and may become bitterly disappointed. This was Starmer's fate.
- Diane Abbott repostedThere is a lot of myth-making about Starmer's leadership, much of it unchallenged. It is hard to support the claim Starmer 'saved the Labour party' when he got 560,000 votes fewer than Corbyn in 2019. 2024 was a Tory collapse, not a Labour surge. (via HoC Library).
- I fully endorse this perspective from Andrea Egan. We need a Labour leadership that delivers for working people. Then there is no default to racist scapegoating, as has happened under successive governments.

- Andy Burnham winning in Makerfield would be a big blow to Reform UK. A key reason why every decent person will want Andy Burnham to win. Burnham win would be a big setback for Reform
- The Times editorial is correct. The assisted suicide Bill is a shambles and is very defective. Its key sponsors, ultimately the Government, know this but are pressing on regardless. Editorial: Assisted dying bill is shoddy and riddled with defects
- Cutting welfare, public services or pay and raising taxes are all on the table because these people are demanding even more money??? Incredible. Unbelievable waste and inefficiency at the MoD, says ex-minister Al Carns
- Diane Abbott repostedA very dark day for justice. Upholding the proscription of Palestine Action is a dangerous abuse of counter-terrorism powers. When protest is treated as terrorism, dissent is criminalised and the foundations of our democracy are weakened.
- The assisted suicide Bill is a dangerous mess of a Bill, with fewer safeguards than when it began. If the exact same shambles is revived, it will face strong opposition. Labour MP Lauren Edwards to reintroduce assisted suicide Bill
